The longer non edited video showed the crowd run around the vehicle when he approached the area. There was no threat to the people he was very far away. The crowd swarmed him and he slowed down obviously until he was shot at through the window.

The video shows him running into a crowd of people, who appear to be in a crosswalk, while laying on the horn, next to two lines of stopped traffic. I suspect there's more to the drivers intentions than you'd care to admit.

The guy who fired the gun was not in immediate danger, since he was beside the vehicle, so I dont think he's gonna get off free and clear, nor should he IMO.

If someone if the path of the driver fired a weapon, I would say it's self defense.

I doubt the OP was concerned about that, or the recent shooting of a protester by a 'militia' member in Albuquerque. Those must be okay. /s

He was moving forward with his horn. But the crowd did not disperse, they flocked to him... If this guy in the SUV meant to run these people down, he probably would have been going a lot faster and without a horn. I don't believe he was intending to harm anyone. I don't know anything about the person in the vehicle. Maybe he had a medical emergency. I don't know, you don't know, it's all speculation. But if a guy in an SUV is laying down on the horn and rolling through the intersection I'd get out of the way. That's just me though.

That doesn't give anybody the right to open fire on someone who could have EASILY moved out of the way.

Fair enough... I'm just going based on what others are saying. What I've seen they were saying Antifa... If it was a BLM protestor, ANTIFA, or the nicest guy on the block I don't care. He's a scumbag in any case.

Maybe we'll get more details, you can't just run people over at an intersection , even if they refuse to get out of the way. If he had a medical emergency, such as passing out at the wheel and not in control of the vehicle then the driving would be more erratic.

We can speculate as to what we do all day long, but here's what I know. As a mobile employee, thousands of hours of road time under my belt, I would not drive my car into a crosswalk with people in it. Ever.

I dont know the intersection at all, but I'm very curious why he proceeded when the other two lines of traffic were stopped.

Right, so just because people are in the crosswalk, you're not justified in driving thru them. And if youre not in imminent danger, you don't get to shoot said driver.

The intersection is north University and west center. If you look at it on google street view, the right lane doesn't have any special turn signals. I suspect the driver simply did not want to stop for the protestors, and a protestor fired on him for that. But hey, this is America, shootings happen all the time, it's our thang and we love it.

My advice is to use Facebook to connect with family and close friends only. But not using it altogether is the best solution. It's drenched in idiocy, lies, and unfortunately people will believe anything they see. Glad they caught the shooter. I'll let the police sort everything out about what the SUV driver did. They probably have surveillance video from that area.

One question I have is if you are in the same situation as the SUV driver, what do you do? Do you just sit there quietly and wait for the protesters to let you pass? What if they don't move? What if they start beating on your car without provocation? Should you open your windows and put your arm out with a fist and say I can't breath? Now that this incident has happened where a driver is shot by a protester does this change the dynamic for this type of situation? Have we reached the Rodney King / Reginald Denny scenario?

I thought the young lady with pink(?) hair was cute in the first video. She saw the SUV running over protesters and she ran over to the location and was hit too.

In the longer video posted earlier it appears the SUV driver was pushing through the crowd and honking his horn. A few seconds later the first shot can be heard that hit the driver. That's when he sped off. At that point I don't blame him for speeding off. We don't really know the intent of the shooter but he created a dangerous situation for everybody by shooting at the driver.

Do you have a video earlier than the longer video above that shows exactly what happened leading up to the event? It appears from that video that the driver honked his horn so some of the protesters would get out of the way so he could continue down the street and the other protesters ran toward his vehicle to block it like the young lady with the pink hair.
