I don't recall any Americans torching themselves over the Vietnam War - that was the protest of a branch of Buddist Monks in South Vietnam.

What you don't remember

Hell, no wonder I don't remember - I WAS IN VIETNAM WHEN THAT HAPPENED.
We had more pressing issues, and didn't read the daily papers for relaxation and amusement.

Then why did you bother saying you did not remember the incident at th Pentagon, knowing you wouldn't have, only to get your panties in a bunch when it was repeated?

I assumed that was why you hadn't heard about it, but you are the one who said you had not remember it, as if you thought you should have, and implying doubt it happened.

So, I informed you, and you get pissy.

Why? I didn't recall because I was not in a position to have know when that happened.
I do recall many other things, but you probably don't know about them simply because you were not in a position to know either.

I didn't ask you why you didn't know. I had assumed it was because you were in Viet Nam, as you later confirmed.

I asked why you bothered posting that you did not remember the incident, implying that you should have if it had really happened, but then complain when the same thing is said.

I probably shoud have known, but it was not being covered when I got back - it's that 15 minute attention span thing I guess.
Now that I do know I will remember it, I probably still have enough remaining brain cells to file that somewhere.

You somehow failed to notice that the OP exploits some poor guy's sickness and suicide for cheap political points. Disgusting indeed.

Exploit? This is exactly what he wanted; to bring attention to the issue through his extreme act. How is he any less of a hero than a soldier that dies in combat?

Hmm, you have a point. I can see no difference between a soldier dying in combat and an alcoholic guy with depression who commits suicide... by torching himself, no less.

Way to pick your martyrs. Maybe you should also start combing the grade schools for fresh suicide "heros"
