Anthony Weiner's wiener

There's a pattern to a few of these 'scandals'. Each one involves a mysterious source for the information initially.

I'm blanking on one I want to mention. Another is the document about Bush's national guard document - one praised as accurate in what it said by the secretary who would have seen it, but having some technical issues raised about whether it was a reproduction, spurred by bloggers, where the original document had a very mysterious origin supplied by a woman who could not be located. Now this one with a guy who put it where it'd get into the media, but disappeared. What was that third example...

this whole thing is a bit retarded.

on day 1, he should have just said "I accidentally uploaded an unprofessional picture to my twitter feed, it was a mistake and was promptly removed, I'm an adult, get over it."

the picture hardly qualifies as PG, even.

Why should he say that?

Why should he say that?
he's a public figure who posted something questionable on his public twitter feed.

if he wants the story to go away, he should give a credible explanation for it (assuming his claims that he was hacked and he can't even recognize his own crotch or not aren't true)

This has not been established.

Well, he has not denied that the picture is him...

So I guess some hacker could have stole a picture of his crotch on his computer and decided to send it out on his twitter account...

but lol, that sure is a quite the story! Sorry, but I have a hard time believing that.

This. Incidentally his story, contrary to those partisans inventing conspiracies against him, is further unraveling. http://www.thedaily.com/page/2011/06/05/060511-news-weiner-1-4/

Just goes to show that the coverup is almost always worse than the crime. If you do something stupid that isn't actually a crime, own up to it as soon as you get caught and you'll at least avoid looking ridiculous for the stupid thing plus the attempted coverup.

Also goes to show that if you aren't a 15 year old girl, stay the fuck off Twitter. All it does it provide stroke your ego and set you up for a fall.

Lollerskates @Craig for still pushing "fake but accurate".

Please stop hyperventilating and overstating the facts, else the only thing really unraveling will be your credibility.

From your own posted article:

Experts caution that there are several scenarios in which the congressman’s Twitter account could have been compromised. Wisniewski cautioned that a savvy hacker may have intentionally noted Weiner’s posting platform the night of the offending tweet, and intentionally matched it.

“If I had his password, I could add his account into my TweetDeck and start sending tweets, and it would all say ‘TweetDeck,’” Wisniewski explained.

how would said hacker have obtained a picture of the congressman's crotch in his underwear, though?

(and obv, he hasn't admitted that it's him, but his lack of denial seems pretty damning)

It's not like the guy has been a thorn in anyone's side or anything. I mean, why would anyone want to do something like this? 🙄

Sorry, your feigning that it could happen is quite ridiculous. Every few weeks we have stories of all kinds of People/Orgs getting Hacked that have much stricter levels of security than a Twitter account.

it's possible that someone hacked into his computer, photoshopped a picture that looked so much like his crotch that the congressman can't deny that it's him, and then uploaded it onto his twitter feed, where someone was standing by to delete the post a minute later.

it's also possible that the congressman hit the wrong button on his phone and deleted the post as soon as he realized what he did.

Occam's razor may apply.

Hyperventilating? I'm laughing my ass off.

You should really learn the difference, dude, if only to solve the mystery of why so many people hyperventilate when you talk politics.

RTFT. Your inability to uphold your end of an intelligent conversation is annoying.

Oh look, lazy loki is still thinking he's making some conclusive point, on a tech forum no less. 🙄

Nothing you just posted obviates or excuses the FACT that what I quoted from your linked article undercuts the point that you think it makes.

Yes, that's possible, but just because that's Possible and you Thunk it, doesn't mean that it's the Explanation or only Possible scenario. The various possibilities can get rather bizarre and improbable(Space Aliens, for eg), but there are very many ways to gain access to a Twitter Account that don't require having Access to or previous knowledge of the Login Information, that occur regularly to Others, and are very probable explanations.

I do not doubt the ease with which a twitter account can be hacked or an entry spoofed.

but where are you arguing that they got the picture from? if it was just some random picture of a stranger, why is Weiner unable to deny that it's him in the shot? did the hackers have prior knowledge of what kind of underwear he buys, how hairy his legs are, the size of his bulge, etc?

Do0d, you posted:

Use your damn brain just a little bit, please:

The pic is likely Weiner's, i.e. it's likely Weiner uploaded it, hence his subsequent replies.

The hackers (if there were any, this remains in doubt) would have gotten the pic from Weiner's account when they hacked it!

Was that really so hard to think through? :hmm:

I've never used twitter, lord, so please forgive me. I assumed that it was directly uploaded with the post, not linked from an outside source.

though tbh, if Weiner uploaded a pic of his crotch onto the net on purpose and left it there, "private" or not, that's probably even dumber than accidentally posting it to twitter.

Lol, I don't think anyone is contending that Weiner's part in all this (which still could include having drunk-texted a shot of his member to young female) was at any point highly intelligent.

These types of "scandals" is why I would never vote for a Republican. Decided after the Clinton impeachment, never looked back.

Craig it was a FAKE document.

The only thing accurate is that the secretary said that the guy who supposedly wrote it MIGHT have said something like that.

By the same token I could produce a memo which states that Ted Kennedy was a drunk and claim that JFK wrote it to which everyone would say "well Ted was a drunk so maybe JFK did write the memo"

You have such a screwed up view of reality.
