BTW guys... not sure if this has been discussed but why does he pronounce his name as 'weener' when everyone else pronounces it as 'winer'? His name is Weiner not Wiener so I don't understand how he got the funny pronunciation in the first place.

He should start calling himself "winner" and start talking about his adonis DNA and then start a traveling road show.

Then land a sitcom called "Two and a Half Congressmen"
 
He should resign at this point, I mean I honestly don't think what he did was a big deal. Right now, his ability to legislate and fulfill his role is pretty much compromised, and his life as a politician might be over as well.

His biggest problem is that he's made it clear to all that he's a pathological liar. A liar willing to say anything to save his ass. Now, I know that this trait endears him to progressives, but fortunately they're not running the country. There's nothing the man can say about anything at this point that will be believable and that makes him totally ineffective at his job. He can't be believed, he can't be trusted.

A man with scruples, a man with a sense of decency, a man with a moral compass would resign. Mr. Weiner obviously has none of these traits. I fully believe him when he says he will not resign.

He's asked for a leave and his fellow representatives will have to vote on that request. It's pretty clear based on what his peers are saying publicly that he'll be denied that leave. He's boxed himself into a corner, but it's the only option he had left.

He's trash and he belongs at the curb.

Who is going to vote on his LOA? Fellow representatives are not his bosses, his constituents are. Weiner should just publish all the photos he has sent out to stop this drip drip drip, let the media have a field day with it while he goes on leave, they'll move on to something else once viewers have heard enough of this story, and he can get back to work.

Don't be so quick to make judgements, I'm sure you've never done anything morally objectionable.

You've really got this broken record thing going on with the "his constituents" shtick. This is what, the fourth time in this thread, the fifth? The rules are the rules. I know progressives like yourself don't feel rules have much value, and as such should be selectively applied, but we're still a country based on the rule of law. If you feel so strongly that the rules, laws and procedures that govern this situation are unfair, I suggest you run for office and change them. In a highly Democratic district with a large percentage of progressives, you'd be a shoe-in.

He's done and it appears he now knows it himself. The latest headlines proclaim that he's 'considering' resigning. When that happens, who will you blame? Him?

My understanding is that he's held nothing other than positions in public service, that he doesn't even have a law degree. It would be typical to wish him luck, but he'll not get that from me. Frankly, he's a piece of shit. I've stepped in better than him. I hope that he slinks off into obscurity where the only solace he gets is from his dick in his hand. It's obvious he's pretty enamored of it and I do think it's the only thing he's fully qualified to handle.
 
We all maybe miss the point.

While we should not care if our congressmen screw cows, goats, or chicken, as long as they formulate excellent public policy which is the thing that should matter to us, still Weiner has become a lighten rod for Public outrage because he broke American taboos.

Simply because that idiot could not keep his rocket in his pocket, he will, get hounded out of office.

In terms of scandals. Average Americans understand only two things, a scandal involving sex, or a scandal over money. And if the money scandal is not totally simple, the thief is likely to get off if slightly clever.

My best guess, long odds, Weiner is toast, and its already all over but the shouting. Even if Weiner did nothing illegal. And he does not even need to say he never had sex with that woman.

American's are a funny people, devoid of any rationality. But like sharks in water, we are all too willing to go into feeding frenzies. Because we are all holier than thou over issues that don't matter. But honor satisfied and Weiner removed, the amount of sexting over cell phones will just keep increasing.

Why don't you inform yourself on those rules before running your big mouth? There is no vote on representatives' LOA requests.

Quick to judge? Take a look at post #7. My attitude regarding this situation has evolved as the evidence mounted. I gave him a pass initially but it's become clear as the story grew that he didn't deserve it. My life in no way parallels Mr. Weiner's. I'm not the Representative from New York's 9th district. I'm not in the public eye and I've taken no oath.

I don't care if he's so smitten with his dick that he feels the need to display it in what appears to be nearly every venue possible. What I find utterly and totally reprehensible is the degree to which he lied to cover up his transgressions. Besides being reprehensible, it's immature, not befitting a man of his age and a man of his position.
 
americans are irrational in who the drive out and for what. weiner didnt even do any actual balling and people want him out. clinton raped women and he didnt come anywhere close to being kicked out of office. if youre type a enough to use your position to get what you want then good for you as far as im concerned, even if youre a ugly as weiner. by the way didnt scott brown do the same thing, except he published his dick shots in cosmo instead of on the internet. he even admitted to committing acts of gayness as a kid and no one is demanding he resign

EDIT: There was a Wiener joke at the freakin' Tony awards ceremony, which is the heart of the progressive movement. Whether or not this guy resigns, his political career is over, at the next primary at the latest.
