Anyone playing it for the PC? Not getting great reviews on this platform.

I planned on trying it, but the full game isn't out until the 22nd...

We all figured that it would be a lot like Destiny so it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the more negative feedback came from players of the beta who've already exhausted all of Destiny 2's possibilities.

I will probably pick it up. I tried it out this last weekend during the free demo, and I was intrigued by it. Most reviews I have seen are saying wait and see, or things like, it has the foundations of a good game, but still needs some work, etc. For my part, I'm tired of most of my games at the moment, and just want some new world to explore and some cool guns to shoot.

Going to wait and see how it does. It didn't seem to be too optimized between the alpha and the beta recently.

Definitely a wait and see. After seeing how EA reacted to SWTOR and past MMO-titles in the past I can't think anything other than unless its a stellar success they will just end up cutting the budget on it every year until content is a dribble. Also Ben Irving is lead producer on the title and that guy pretty much single handedly destroyed SWTOR's end game community only for them to replace him and let him fail upward to land lead producer on Anthem. I'm sure they will have a free to play weekend and the like sometime after release and can check it out then.

I tried it out on both demo weekend. The movement and gun play is really nice, but the game just feels like it needs more time or maybe they need to tone the graphics down a bit for non pro or xbx systems. I play on the xbox 1s. Movement in the market area is extremely shaky. Feels like 5 frames per second maybe. Definitely a wait and see for me.

I honestly enjoyed it. Got the early demo being in Origin premier. Ordered a new video card two days later. My 1070 just wasnt cutting it at 3440x1440. And I got a free copy of it too with my new card. Graphics are not as important as gameplay, but damn it does look great when cranked up.

They seemed to have listened to some gripes, the one speed walking around the town is annoying and slow as redacted. Flying with a mouse and kb is not great, but some tweaking to settings helped it out. After awhile, flying, hovering, etc was pretty cool. Game me a tiny bit of nostalgia for Tribes, my fav game of all time. The jet pack feel of it all. I felt like a gamepad would be easier, and it was on my PS4. And looked pretty damn good on my LG OLED.

I am going to give it a real go, and see what happens. Teamwork seems to be very important, more so than other games. BFV is still 80% of my gaming, to get the Tides of War challenges. Still trying to finish up Red Dead 2 and The Last of Us again before the 2nd comes out.

Profanity isn't allowed in the
tech forums.

Official PC specs have been released, and they're pretty mild:

ANTHEM MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

OS: Windows 10
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570 or AMD FX-6350
RAM: 8 GB System Memory
GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 760, AMD Radeon 7970 / R9280X
HDD: 50GB Available Hard Drive Space
API: DirectX 11

ANTHEM RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

OS: Windows 10
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6GHz or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X 3.5 GHz
RAM: 12 GB System Memory
GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1060, AMD RX 480
HDD: 50GB Available Hard Drive Space
API: DirectX 11

Makes me ponder if there's something to these optimization claims, and or lack thereof

While I have no interest in Anthem, I do have an interest in Bioware continuing to shamble forward so that one day we might get a new Dragon age or Jade empire.

The general sentiment out in the world is that if Anthem flops, EA will shutter Bioware.

Not getting the sense that there is much hype or excitement surrounding Anthem, but for those of you that have played it or follow it on Reddit or something, what feel are you getting for the excitement surrounding the game?

This thread isn't exactly the liveliest spot on AT...

I played the alpha and I thought it looked decent, played well enough while the server wasn't crashing or kicking you out. It gave me a different type of feel to it. Maybe like destiny but with an Ironman feel to it. I don't know I don't do well with these type of games because in the end it always requires a team to play and random people online usually don't do teamwork.

But then the beta came out and I didn't get to play that but from what I saw in the reviews and playthroughs of the beta, it seems like it was not optimized any better and also looked a bit worse than the alpha.

Yea, the Alpha was better than the Beta, just walking through the marketplace saw dips below 20fps in the Beta while solidly over 60fps in the Alpha. I will be playing with my brothers so we have a ready made team, even if I am the slow old guy of the lot.

If I had a team too I would probably play it because I enjoyed it a lot. I think I'll get it once it comes out and I get to see how the reviews are. I thought the alpha looked very good at ultrawide 1440p and I had it maxed out, it performed fine. I'm guessing it would be more popular on consoles.

I also played the division 2 beta and that ran like crap but was playable. I got bored of division 1 mainly because I wasn't good enough to go into the dark zone, instantly would get killed and looted. But anthem I could deal with and the elements of it make it interesting. I just need to see how the final product performs on PC first.

Feels more like Destiny 2 w/ jet packs instead of sparrows and better toolkit customization. Flying around in the world is stunning and combat is engaging. Story starts off light, not to opening tutorial, until you get a couple quests in and past the intro to people ones. I'd give it an 8/10 atm but it's also my cup of tea. I get to fly around a beautiful open world and farm gear through engaging combat.

I am enjoying it so far. Only done 3 missions, with random pub people. You can set it to private and play by yourself, but seems like it would be pretty hard. Playing with the same person would be nice.

I know its promised, but they need to hurry up and make run avail in the I have gotten better with flying on the PC, and I know graphics dont make a game, but damn does it look good cranked up.

lol and how long did that last us Nurtured... i think i only got to place with you a couple of times, which is a lot less then what i played with you on the division and even that couldnt keep both you and me.

Definitely true though I did drop 600+ hours into The Division and am excited for the second one. Anthem has issues - slow walking around town (faster than beta, sprint now works in town), minor delays in dialog and quest location marking (this seems intentional for pacing reasons) and a story that starts off slow. The characters are all unusually awkward that makes them somewhat interesting. We have a store front owner from Jersey, a creepy guy who likes us a little too much, an autistic cypher and gramps. It's interesting and an improvement over Andromeda. The eyes are still bad, wonder if that's a frostbite engine issue.

Overall, if I can get $1 an hour of entertaining play out of a game it was worth the price.

The game sucks. Pure and simple. Should be avoided like a plague until they start selling it for $10-20. It basically more of the same crap. Just like Destiny 2.

All flash, no substance. It looks beautiful, but lacking in story, game-play, and just about everything else. also, it is not made for solo players.

Yea that was my impression when playing the alpha. It looked great and seemed really interesting and new at first but I soon realized it is going to get repetive and you would need a team to play eventually.
