I want the new Sonata if it has a better front fan and more room behind the mobo tray / removable tray.

The P180 looks really nice. And yes it does look a lot like the Lian Li, that's why I like it.

now if they only made the silver plastic door thing a little better looking, that'd be great. i hate the little grip thing on the door. it just looks distracting. :/

The door is plastic??? Daaaaamn, talk about going cheap. At least the Lian-Li V1100 and V2100 series have full aluminum doors...

is it just me, or does the front intake slit look larger on the sonata II compared to the original sonata?

Thats how lianli has standed out as highest quality over so many years. They use almost 100% aluminum. No plastic parts whatsoever in the mid to upper end models.

Looks like the Sonata II is using a bottom mount power supply. It seems like this is going to be the next big trend in cases.

Edit: Not bottom mount PS, but a fan w/duct on the bottom.

I think they covered the glossy paint on the first one...

True, plus they don't use think aluminum in their cases, unlike the p160 side panels. Those are down right flimsy when compared to the V1100's panels.

As with so many good ideas, the people that do it first rarely get the credit for it. Someone does it really well (like Lian-Li or Coolermaster) and others go out and copy it later (like Antec and Thermaltake).

The door looks like aluminum to me, though they do state there is a LAYER of interior plastic on most of the case for sound absorbtion. I won't argue that they user thinner metal (makes it lighter but less sturdy) but don't go all out and diss some plastic. Metal is known to enhance or channel sound while plastic absorbs it, maybe they are on to something there (like on their Aria case)

Personally, I'm okay with that, as long as these companies do a good job copying. If it means more good, quality cases, that's a good thing, right?

Right now I'm trying to decide on my next case. I bought (and immediately lightly modded) an NZXT Guardian, and I like it...it's a great case for its price, if its looks are your thing. However, I'm kind of getting tired of the looks already, and now the good, clean looks of Lian-Li are starting to look real appealing. So I'm trying to decide between the Lian-Li PC65, Lian-Li PC6070, Lian-Li V1000, L-L V1100, CoolerMaster Praeotorian, Antec P160 (and maybe now P180?), and maybe even the Kingwin KT424 (which seems to be VERY like the L-L PC6x series).

I'd say wait until the new round of cases (like the P180) are out and reviews are posted. Then you can make a better decision as to what would suit you the best. Maybe the P180 will become THE case to have, maybe all it will be is hype and the performance will blow. Dunno yet, but either way, the older Antec P160 will drop in price and make it even more attractive.

Cooler Master is not a case manufacture, nor is Antec. They are marketing organizations which work with contract production houses to develop products to be sold under their name.

For example, the Antec SLK family is based around a CompuCase chassis; Antec works with the manufacture to tailor the specifications, appearance and packaging. Cooler Master uses ATCS-TEC to build their cases; Tom?s Hardware has covered this connection in their case reviews. Check the following link for more info.

P180 is not replacing P160, but rather filling out the Performance One line of cases. Which means yes there will be more cases in the Performance One line of cases (P180 is just the closest to being ready for shipping). Front door is aluminum/plastic (IIRC, I've only seen a sample once), and the side panels are layered aluminum/plastic/aluminum to absorb noise.

As far as jumping intothe aluminum case trend late goes. Initially we didn't want to go there, but enough customers asked us to make an aluminum case, so we've done so.

Sonata II may replace the Sonata, it hasn't been decided yet. Also from what I've seen in house the front intakes are indeed wider/better on the II versus the original. Thankfully we got rid of the logo (I was never a fan of that idea).
