Antec SLK2650-BQE with 350 watt power @ CUSA

I love this case & @ this price it's a no brainer.

Also Antec rebates are very reliable @ least for me in the past. 🙂

I just built 1 and helped build 4 computers with this case. Its a really nice and sturdy case and looks really professional.

If there was another $80.01 worth of stuff to buy to get the free shipping... 😉

How are Antec rebates? Been burned by rebates lately. Wish it was a COMPUSA rebate, those come fast and easy.

I grabbed one of these cases yesterday. It looks nice. My 10-second review...

The power supply handles 24-pin mobos, and support for four SATA drives. I am not sure who would put four SATA drives and a 24-pin mobo on a 350 watt supply, but there you go.

The drive mounting system is rather strange. Maybe other cases have it, but it is new to me. When you pop off the black panel, you have to remove the "twist-off" metal covers (pretty common). But these covers have little pieces of plastic attached that form the drive rails for the right side. So no screws touch your optical drives. I am more used to screw-in drive rails. I am not sure of the point of this. I can understand wanting the thing to be tool-free, but you still need a screwdriver to install the mobo, hard drive, and any PCI cards. Why not screws for the optical drives too?

Anywhoo, nice case, great price. Get one!

I've had two of these cases for several months and I'm very happy with them. They're quiet. A little crowded inside, but in exchange they're not too huge outside.

My Zalman CPU fans pull dust in from the side vent in the case. If I don't blow the dust out every several weeks, the heatsink fins get totally covered and the computers reboot from the heat.

The power supplies have been fine for my two overclocked Athlon XP systems, each with 1 Gb ram and two hard drives.

Anyone who's owned this case and the SLK3700-BQE care to comment on the weight differences? This is a hell of a deal AR, but I've owned the SLK3700 and that thing was a tank. Solid as hell, but it weighed a pfffbin ton... I'd be interested in this case if it was significantly lighter than the 3700.

This is a great deal on a name brand case with PSU included. I have an earlier version of this, the SLK 3700 AMB, same specs as this one. Still have it and it's running smoothly.

If only I didn't have 3 unused cases sitting around I would get this. Thanks OP.

I forgot...

My only other comment is that the thickness of the steel was great for most of the case ... BUT ... the side panel seemed like it was made of aluminum foil. It is VERY thin. Not quite what I would expect from Antec, but then again it is still a steal at $30.

I went to my CompUsa in Pleasanton, CA today and I didn't see any in stock. In answer to shurato's questions on Antec's rebates, they are reliable. They generally say 12 weeks and it's usually right on the money. I bought 3-Antec 1600 SL's (300W PS) and an Antec 1650 (350W PS) from Fry's last in the last 18 months or so, each with 25-40 in rebates. All came without a hitch. I wanted this case so maybe I'll have to go to another Compusa later this week.

How easy would it be to mod it to take a 120mm fan in front? The 80mm fan in front would either be too noisy or not move much air.

I picked one up. Not sure I need it, but couldn't resist.

I like the fact that the drive bay cover can hide drives that aren't black most of the time.

I didn't like that there are no audio (headphone and microphone) plugs on the front... only USB.

**edit**

My bro's powersupply is dying. Would this powersupply work on an athlon xp 3200 and geforce 6800 w/ 1 optical and 1 hard drive ?

Good deal, OP...

Yes, it's the new v2.0 350w, so it's got the 24-pin connector if you need it. (the last 4 snap off if you don't)

Something tells me yes... Just don't plan on any large upgrades or overclocking...

hope this helps

That's for the older PSU, the newer ones have dual 12v rails, slightly different specs. The chances of you getting an older PSU instead of a 2.0 are pretty slim, but it could happen.

New unit at CompUSA is the SmartPower V2.0 with dual rail, 24 pin (detachable), PCI-E, SATA, and fan rpm out. It is a very stable and quiet PSU.
