I've been looking around for a new case and found this one from Antec which looks seriously good, lots of airflow, space for 5 fans and a window, all for £60! Has anyone else used it and is it worth getting? :)

i had a 1080amg and converted it to a 1000amg, its a great case, good cooling, kinda heavy but its clean. Make sure you get an Antec power supply to compliment it.

Looks like i'm gonna go for it then, I can just picture the pretty violet LED fans and cathode i'm going to stick in it... Wil it be easy to mod a fan hole for the top of the case as an extra exhaust? Is there enough space for one? :)

OOO cheers for the pic, looks like it has LOADS of space for a decent fan up there! I think a 120mm fan would be excellent, good airflow and less noise. Does your top blowhole make a big difference in temps? Do you have all fan slots filled? What are your temps like? :)

Rofl, dude, have you looked at my pics yet? If you did, you noticed I don't use all the fan slots. I grew tired of my "wind" tunnel cases so I designed Blue Fantasy for efficency. I have the twin Panflos hooked up to a baybus in the front. When im surfing and what not, I keep them at low speed, very quiet. At high speed, its louder but nothing I can hear over my speaker or headphones.

I did away with the dual exhaust as it was not needed and lessens the clutter in the case. Below the Video card you can see I installed a backplate from an old soundcard. This enables the bottom intake to blow cool air at the video card and push the warm air around the card out of the case. The top intake provides cool air for the cpu, but also at the same time, it pushes the warm air out passivly through the back of the case. Whatever heat is left is sucked up via the PSU and the blowhole on top is run thermally controlled by the Antec PSU. Temps in the case stay within 2c of eachother. I have temp probe on the bottom, CPU, and to of the case as well as probe outside hooked up to the Digidoc 5 so I know temps at all times. Im currently running my 2.8 at 3.24 atm and currently testing the temps. Im planning to block the lower exhaust vent to prevent cool air excaping to soon out of the case. Im like efficency alot in my cases.

I didnt look at all the pics before but i have now, and i have to say the overall look is very impressive to say the least. What are the difference in temps between inside your case and the ambient outside temps? :)

Usually no more then 3c at most times. Pretty darn good considering how its set up. I need to get the lower exhaust port covered so that cool air from the second intake stays in the case.

Jesus that's impressive, my current case is about 15C higher than ambient it's the worst case ever, lol. I always keep the side off and the problem with that is the bloody dust! I'll be upgrading in the next couple of weeks for definate. :)

Lol, ouch dude thats really bad air flow or a piss poor case. Time to upgrade to real modders case!

Both without a doubt, I couldn't even sell it for scrap... :)

So if i filled all 5 fan bays and created an extra blowhole at the top i'd be pretty much sorted for decent airflow or is there a better fan config to create better temps in that case?

Bout the only thing better is add a 120mm intake fan on the side panel and do away with the front intakes. Other then that, the case is well built stock wise for cooling.

So why take the front intakes out, do they hinder the airflow when mixed with side intakes? And also, would I stick the extra 120mm side fan over the CPU area, and is the wondow easy to cut? :)

No, I meant that if you installed 120mm intake fan on the side panel, the pressure off that would create a "push and shove" war between the front intakes. Basically the airflow from both would collide and you woudln't get any airflow as the air would be trying to escape out of the front intakes. Basically overkill.

As far as cutting the window, it would be a royal pain with the 1000AMG stock window due to the "fins" they put on around the 80mm stock intake hole, not to mention look real ugly. You can replace the window like I did in mine, but I had a bitch of a time alighning the mounting holes, not to mention I cracked to sheets of plexiglass trying to install a side blowhole, Lexan would be a much better choice. Eventually I saw that a company could cut me an exact window and burn an image using a laser so I opted for that and nixed the side blowhole idea. Im probably going to create a new duct channel for my front intake so it blows it directly to the cpu area and the bottom one will be responsible for cooling my video card.

:Q sounds like FAR too much hassle to me, I think i'll stick with the stock design, lol, I have other hobbies. Cheers for the info anyway! :D:beer:

I worked on one for a friend of mine. I really liked it after working on it for awhile. He had a cool rehobus that I modded leds into the knobs so you could see their position. In order to appreciate the cool looking knobs I had to put a window in the door so you could see them. It turned out to be one coolest mods I have done. I heated the plexi in my wifes oven in order to form it to the same curve as the door.

Delbert I like that mod! How long did you put it in the oven for? Did you keep taking it out regularly to make sure it didn't overbend and warp too far? :)

About 8 minutes. Pulled it just as soon as it settled into the curved metal form I made.
I keep waiting for my friend to finish this case so I can show some other cool things I did. I promised him I would wait until it's all done.
There is some discussion about the door window over at the hardforums HERE.

Wow, nice dilbert! I might have to do something like that as im really sick of opening my door everytime I want to check my temps on my Digidoc. How did you manage to cut the plastic nice and smooth and mount the plexi? Very impressive, I give you a hardy pat on the back from a fellow Antec modder. Hell, I should give you a medal! Have any suggestion on my case, as Im always trying to give it that something special and if I created a thin window so I could see my digidoc temps, it would give that "boring" door cover something new.

Delbert any chance of a detailed guide of how you created the window from start to finish, or am I just being cheeky? :D:beer:
