It is just extremely slow, the meny looks nice but the huge roll over gif animation kills it.

Anti alias on the logo would improve it

Yea the server is running really slow today....its f2s, which is like the best free server out there though...unless you guys know of a better one that supports cgi/perl 5? The top image I made in printmaster cause Paint Shop doesn't let you do anytthing but straight text..that's why it isn't antialised at all. Are there newer versions of paint shop that do allow you to? Or does Photoshop? I'm using paint shop 6.

EDIT: oh yea, about the rollover animations...do you think I should make the delay shorter? Its only like 4 frames long and its only like 3K each.

<< Make sure u get some pics of the girls aight. >>

lol...we'll see

<< Oh, and unixfreak, we've been over this already, so just shut up. >>

I bet you want everyone to shut up, dont you, deeko? poor kid.

There is something in the water in Exeter, thats all I have to say.

No, just people like you who have to be dicks about everything I do.

(boys site)
I'll be honest with you. For one thing, the pictures are really bad. The overall quality of the pictures and the fonts give a really unprofessional look to the page. The layout is pretty good but the nav bar, the logo up top, and the pics don't seem to be "market off" from each other. The black background makes them run into each other. How about using tables instead of frames?

Oh and how about some pics of the girls? hehehe I used to go to girls volleyball games just to my favorite girls play. There's nothing like 5 tall, fit girls jumping and screaming hehehe. 😉

The girls page finally loaded. In terms of layout, it's fine. You might want to extend the top banner to 770 pixels or something close to that. The nav bar on the left is standard but the animated gifs take too long and are tacky because of it. Having some pics where you have the words welcome... may very well spruce up the page quite a bit. Also the graphics in the logo look um... like a third grader's drawing. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm trying to give you my general first impression. Try getting your hands on some better software like photoshop. I learned to use photoshop this past month for my website and I can tell you it's an amazing program.

I agree with dj here. I think your biggest problem is that the quality of the pics that you are using are terrible. Makes the whole site look extremely amutuerish. (sp?)

BTW- do you go to a Private School?

the boys site is definitely better, but even then it's not that great. i hate being mean because obviously you are just starting out (i hope?) so it's excusable. my first web page looked just as bad. for the new girls design, i'd have to say the top bar doesn't look like it matches the nav bar, giving it a very unprofessional look. i think instead of having a top and a nav bar u should just have one bar. maybe widen the nav bar u have now add the eagle at the top. for the right side of the webpage where the content will be have maybe a cool looking volleyball with exeter's girls volleyball around the volleyball. well not around, but maybe something to the effect of

exeter's
<insert volleball>
girls' volleyball.

everything is centered of course.

well basically i think the more simple it is the better it looks and will clean up the page a big. if this is too different from your original design for you to try and u feel like it's not worth the time to try to see what it looks, then don't do it. it's just a suggestion. good luck! (i hope i was clear with my suggestions!)

🙂

Hmm...a new idea for the nav buttons...what do you think of this: The first image is the same. For the rollover, I just have the ball spin in an infinate loop, instead of the hokey little trail thing. Sound good? Also, do you think it would look better if I moved the layer with the nav down about 10 pixels, and maybe made the color of the bar different from the color of the buttons? I'm still not sure what to do with the top image....I just can't get something together that I like.

Ok, I updated the nav pictures to just a spinning ball....better? Also, my other 2 questions have been left unanswered...should I lower the nav bar from the top image a few pixels, and should I make the backround of the nav bar a different color from the background of the nav buttons, possibly a lighter/darker blue?

Deeko- you go to Exeter? In NH? The private school? A friend of mine from school is going there next year. Wow...I thought I was supposed to be happy for him. 😱 Heh, just kidding...yeah. 😉 😛

No. There are 10,000 exeter's in the world. There's like 3 in PA alone. I go to Exeter Twp, a public school in PA.

With the help of Shawnmos, I think I've ironed out alot of the problems....what do you guys think now?

I agree, I don't have to grimace when I stare at the layout. Much better. Definitely on its way. Hey, how about making the button text bold?

Bold..good idea. Could take awhile to change alll those frames though. I'll get to work on it.

Mansnake, what color? The text on the buttons?

Alright...I added a corner image with a little circle-thing instead of a rough edge...lookin good? Also, this is goin out on a limb and I doubt its possible, but....is there a way to get the forum to load in a layer? Like right now I use the same base html file for each page, but the forum loads on its own page....is it possible, using like some DHTML or other fancy thing, to get it to load in a layer?
