What do you guys think of the layout for the site I made for my school's girls VB team? here

The nav bar takes awhile to look at. I think it should be direct and simple.

The navy blue and black text don't work well. (to your not updated pages...)
 
eh, the title just doesnt work at all..
I like the nav, but it takes too long to navigate. Instead of not having any text visible before the mouse over, try having a faded/dark/blended text there so you can tell what it is so you dont have to wait for the image to show.

Yea, I originally had it red, but then I remember that like 50% of the male population wouldn't be able to read it. I just threw those pages together just to be there, I'll make them more readable when I actually get the info from the coach.
 
Do you guys prefer something more like the boys site? I tried to design it different, but if the other way works better, I could revert to something more like that.

Yea, the top image isn't done yet. That should be kind of obvious by the big box that says &quot;some logo here&quot;. I haven't designed the logo yet.

The background color of the images and the nav buttons is a little off, but it doesnt make sense....it will be right on my computer, then wrong here, so i fix it, and then its wrong there....I don't get it.
 
i would have to agree with whoever said that it looked like it was all done in paint. (not a good thing) you should definitely go with a different color scheme too.
 
I have lots of blue because the school colors are blue/white...oh and in paint you cant do gradient fills can you? It was done in Paint Shop 6.
 
couldn't you try a white background with a blue stripe towards the left for the nav bar and the title to involve a good picture of a volleyball, mascot, and something to do with the team?

Yea, that does look alot better. A different font would probably help....I used Comic Sans MS alot on the boys site, but that gets boring after awhile too. I'm thinkin of halving the # of frames in the nav buttons, and putting the name on the first gif in the animation in some way...hmm...good stuff...and other suggestions?
 
You could make the name with the animating gif as the first non moving frame but instead of the little path, make the ball turn and make the name flash in colors.

And you could put the school mascot as well on there.
 
Hmm...there's an idea...I'm gonna play around with it tomorrow, see what I can do...I could do that color change thing and make it an infinate loop instead of a finite one...I'm thinking of putting the school mascot in that area that used to say &quot;some logo here&quot;
 
to be honest...it looks ugly. get rid of the blue background....look like something straight out of members.aol.com. i'd probably make it white...and shrink the font and use a font such as Arial or Verdana. i mean, it's not visually pleasing at all IMO. that top logo would look a lot better on a white background too...
 
Ok, I redid it using many of your suggestions...the nav buttons now let you see the name the whole time and have less frames, I redid the top image, and I changed the main section to white. What do you guys think? Good now?
