Another toddler shot his parents

If the parents had both been armed, one of them should have practised enough to be quick on the draw and blow that menace away!

Maybe their point isn't that your ownership is safe... it's that other people are stupid, AND their stupidity with guns puts us all at risk.
Example... if this happened at the store, no guarantee they are restricted to hitting their parents.

Innocent bystanders are at risk, and the argument is that it should not be tolerated.

Of course that is the point, but many are blissfully ignorant to the potential lesson in events like this.

You don't have to give it up at all.

What would be nice though is some actual common sense requirements to get one rather than just no felony, age 21 and a pulse. For some reason you gun nuts start getting your hose in a bind when some common sense restrictions that would not stop most of you from getting a gun anyway come up.
 
Maybe the parents pet Reticulated Python would get loose and eat the toddler out of revenge.

Haven't even read it, but I guess the kid knew he was screwed from the get go and decided to solve the problem early.

I got rear ended at a red light a few years back.... I suppose everyone should give up their cars.... what if that person that rear ended me... hit a bus full of kindergarteners?

Within a generation no one will be directly driving their vehicle anyway... precisely for safety reasons.
 
The real ridiculousness is that this is a solved problem - we can make guns that only fire when their legitimate owner is holding it. Solves stolen guns, solves babies shooting themselves/parents/siblings, solves unformed, angsty teens taking their parents' guns for school shootings. Yet gun nuts are so nuts that they threaten anyone even willing to offer those guns on the free market

The day I'll start worrying about sweeping gun law changes is when the vast majority of Americans start voting until then there's no way the 2nd amendment will be modified and most gun restrictions will be deemed unconstitutional.
 
I support any and all decision making based upon knee jerk reactions to singular events. I feel that this is the best way for our country to move forward.
