hey dumbass, who are you to tell me and others to wear a seatbelt?!?! if I choose not to wear 1, thats my business, not yours:|

it all depends on if the 2 states have Reprocisity...if so your state might or might not play games w/ your driving priviledges, although I personally doubt for a seatbelt ticket, they would...W/O Reprocisity...Fla can't touch you...all they'll do will suspend your driving priviledges in the state of Fla...this happened to me a # of years ago...a redneck cop in Pensacola Fla tried to give me a speeding ticket for 70...I had a car load of buddies that new I was doing 60 (we passed the redneck cop while he had someone else pulled over, and since he saw this red musclecar drive by, I guess he decided to go after us next). When I told him I knew exactly how fast I was going, and I had a carload of witnesses to prove it, he decided to write me up for 60, which is what I was driving..needless to say, I never went to court, and never paid any fine, and the state, about 6 months later, sent me a notice to my home in Cali, saying my driving priviledges in the state of Fla were suspended:Q:p...like I really lost sleep over that...not:cool:

I'm sorry, but your decision not to wear seatbelt might affect others more than you think. If you ride with me and got into an accident and got thrown out and become road kill, it more than likely will affect my insurance if your family sue me or my insurance for some compensation (regardless whether the accident is my fault or not) or some other folk's insurance, while wearing a seatbelt might have prevented that.
Also Insurance company would do anything to interpret the statistic to their advantage, for the sole purpose of raising rate. If there're plenty of driver not wearing seatbelt, more than likely fatality/sever injuries will also increase, which translate to more $$ spend by the insurance company to cover that, which will eventually mean more general rate increase for the rest of the subscriber to pay for it (or to prepare to pay for it).
Personally, I think it should be left up to the person to decide whether they want to wear seatbelt or not. But given the greedy nature of this country to sue, sue and sue some more, i'm probably just dreaming to expect the best out of people. As for seatbelt law itself, there're too many overzealous organization that keep lobying for it, not to mention its an easy profit for the local cops, that it will probably stay for a long period of time, if not forever.

Ah yes, but you see what my post count is. Most of it was in FS/T forum. I think this is why I always have been conservative with my posting in off topic. Like with the seatbelt ticket, I sometimes have to learn the hard way.

The state has to have a coroner come pronounce you dead and also someone to scrape you up. Plus it adds a bunch of paperwork I'm sure.

This takes tax dollars so others have to deal with the consequences.

This is true for all deaths. From my view point, one less person, one less person to take my tax dollars. I'd consider the coroner bill as an investment actually.
If it doesn't effect someone else, it shouldn't be illegal.

While I agree that seatbelt laws are stupid (if you're too dumb to wear a seatbelt, do I really want to help save your life, no, I don't), the fact remains that he needs to pay the ticket. If he ignores the ticket a judge will issue a bench warrant and if he's ever in MN again they can arrest him. They won't actively come after him, but if his plates get run for some reason, he'll get dragged in.

1) Stupid not to wear the seat belt in the first place
2) Even STUPIDER to debate not paying the ticket. It's what.. $20, $30, $50? Is it worth that much $ to risk the legal hassle and potential problems you could have 5/10/20 years down the road because you didn't pay this ticket?

Think about it. Nobody can make your life hell quite like the government. I'm a gambling man, but I know when the odds are against me. They are not going to 'forget' that you didn't pay the ticket.

Unless the ticket is for some ungodly amount I'd probably pay it. You may think you'll never be back in Minnesota, but if you ever do come back you might be sorry you never took care of it.

only the people that have enough brains to think of something like this are the people that buckle up right when they get in the car. b/c they're smart enough to know it will save their life.

and its people like this that make things difficult. just obey the laws set in place and everyone will be happy and safer. i dont see a sudden rash of protesters not wearing their belts..............BECAUSE its dumb not to wear one.
what are you, my mother???I choose not to...just who do you think you are,to take away my freedom of choice?!?!:|:disgust:you must be 1 of those do-gooders, who think they know whats best for everyone...NOT:frown:

HEY! BUTTFSCKHEAD! Gather your holier-than-thou thoughts for a minute and give this a THOUGHT, if you have the capacity to do that.

Why do you think this guy got a ticket, retard? If it is law, and you don't follow it, anyone on this board has the right to call you a FSCKTARD because you violated it...especially with this real winner here asking how he can/should get out of it.

I'm sorry PAL, you don't have this mysterious "Freedom of Choice." I don't remember a 28th Amendment mentioning a "Right to Not Wear a Seatbelt."

I wouldn't pay it. If it was anything other than seatbelt? Yes. Any moving violation I would pay. I wouldn't pay an out of state seat belt ticket. BTW you should wear your seatbelt.

LMAO! The christened Dumbass returns! Nice job there, kamiam, rewording my insults into your sentence.

Not all laws are right or unjust, eh? Try telling that to the countless dumbass kids like you who don't wear them, and one day fly through a windshield headfirst and endure a painful and bloody death. Of course, let me guess, your reponse to that will be...what? "It's my life"? Oh please. You don't have a leg to stand on and you know it.

It is the law and while it is such, you obey it whether you like it or not. It's NOT your choice to make. Sorry, you lose.

EDIT: bold

Heh heh heh. Your middle school insults coupled with your baseless and ridiculous arguments spelled out in the lack of grammar and proper English show who actually has a clue about this matter. The "death of the Constitution as we know it"? Where do you pull these gems out? The Framers specifically made the Constitution extremely skeletal for Congress and the legislatures to fill in and bulk it up when need be and/or to adapt to the times. Had they not, the Federal government would not be able to regulate many things in the world today that it needs to.

Maybe do some research before you even try to make a decent oppisition, and sending flaming PMs as to not expose your immature and bannable tendencies is just another reason for me to laugh at you.

I find it very amusing how ID10T's always are pointing fingers when, in actuality, they are describing their own shortcomings:)

I still can't believe you're beating a dead horse. You lost. Now get do your homework like a good little boy.

EDIT: If you're twice as old as me, I feel sorry for you. Do you live in a trailer, by any chance? Er, sorry, I think that's an insult to the trailer-dwellers...I've never seen someone as old as you claim to be as stupid as you are presenting yourself to be.

I agree.. If it doesen't effect anyone else, it shouldn't be against the law. If it involves personal safety, it should be common sense.

Seat belts, helmets, drugs.

Especially drugs. :p

Making things that involve personal safety a mandatory law just makes people want to break the said law. If it was taught say, in school from a very early age, that you're a fscktard if you don't wear your seatbelt or whatever, then people would wear them, no questions asked.
