Going to preorder this later, but won't get it until later in the week since I want the $5 discount... *cheap ass*

Oh, and holy crap, I did not know this was a "spiritual sequel" to System Shock until I read it in the newspaper. Now I really, really want it. Hope I can run it on my 2407 ok. That or I'll get some b~tching by the Xbox 360 owner in the house:).

I've stopped buying games for the PC altogether. Playing games on the console is so much more enjoyable, even FPS. Even though I'm more responsive and accurate with mouse+KB, the controller makes the game seem so much more immersive, IMO....in addition to the reasons you mentioned.

Me too. Keeping up with the minimum system specs for modern games is an expensive pursuit, particularly when the ONLY benefit is getting the privilege of gaming at an office chair in front of a 20" monitor rather than from a couch, on a 50" HDTV. Any PC made in the last 3-4 years will work great for nearly anything other than gaming, so it becomes harder to rationalize buying the latest video card or CPU than it was before, say, 2003-2004.

This is how I feel. I think a lot of people who grew up on PC gaming (discovered PC gaming before console gaming was huge) are starting to learn in this direction.

This is exactly me. I've been playing PC games since robotron. I've owned consoles over the years and liked playing certain games on them (sports, fighting, and driving games), but they never held a candle to my PC gaming. I could never imagine playing an FPS on a console.

Then came HDTV and HD gaming consoles (360 & PS3) and I've completely shifted my ways. I forced myself to learn the controls. The entry point was relatively cheap...and I know I have 5+ more years where the only money I spend is on new games...not new hardware. Sure, by the end of the 5+ year cycle, PC games will have considerably better graphics than the 360/PS3 games...but would it have been worth the extra $1000 worth of hardware I would have to buy to keep up and actually take advantage of those new features...not anymore...at least for me. Not only that, my 360 acts as a media hub allowing me to stream everything from videos to pictures to my HDTV...so it serves more purposes than just gaming.

I've been using the same PC I've had for years for all my "PC" needs and see no need for an upgrade for years to come.

Well, Starcraft II definitely won't work on a gamepad. That if nothing else will be what finally makes me put down the money for new PC hardware. Though there are a handful of other PC-only games that would factor in.

Well I upgraded my gamefly account to a 2-game plan just for this game today. It shows it's availability as "Now" this very moment. They better ship it to me or I'm going to be pissed.
