Obama probably knew that Federal Funding for Stem Cell Research faced huge hurdles, that's why he supported it.

Explain why its absurd and dangerous or are you just trolling as normal?

The fact you need to ask tells me you wouldn't know a troll from a truth teller.

Explain why, sure I will, like I'll explain why folk like sunlight.

But as absurd and dangerous as it is, it's probably a correct ruling that fits what the law says. Gosh.

Well... The Dickey Amendment did restrict funding for Embryonic Stem Cells because it terminates the life of the Embryo. Bush actually 'loosened up' the basic research from Clinton's position.
I don't think there is any Constitutional Issue regarding the law... ( Christians 1, Lions 0 )

I know your thread is 'tongue in cheek' related to the 'Gay Issue'... But, the analogy is in one case the inalienable rights of the embryo and in the other the quite appropriate trial judge finding that you have to treat all people the same.... You can't hardly do that with all the embryo around... I don't think you can, anyhow... Although, I can think of some I wish might have been submitted for research.... ():)

More like a sane judge enforcing an insane amendment written by a psychopath Republican.

The "hard-line" as we like to refer to it, Moonbeam, is how we escape the Matrix. ;)

Activism not found. As much as I disagree with it, the judge correctly interpreted the law instead of simply creating new law from the bench.
It was "the unambiguous intent of Congress to prohibit the expenditure of federal funds on 'research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed,' " Lamberth wrote, citing language from Dickey-Wicker.

Stupid law if you ask me, but the ruling seems correct.

I almost got the feeling there that you were saying what I said instead of me.

Wouldn't this be a good time for Americans to show how tolerant they are of Christianity? Supporting this ban would be a huge step forward for American-Christian relations and show what a tolerant and understanding country we are.

Have you read this forum before?

There are Christians and folk love them and then there are assholes who call themselves Christians that most folk can't stand. The former are meek, humble and graceful while the latter are pompous self righteous ego stuffed swine. They are also brain dead and always on edge that somebody will pull the plug on them. Imagine Christ in a rage over his crucifixion. They love imagining themselves the victim while they stick their finger in your eye.

Obama is doing enough damage to science without worrying about this. We'll be hitchhiking to the ISS soon with the Ruskies.
Actually it seems to be a good idea, let the Russians pay for the transportation while we get all the benefits of the research. We'll still be actively involved.

Two doctors who do research with adult stem cells, James Sherley of the Boston Biomedical Research Institute and Theresa Deisher of AVM Biotechnology, argue that the guidelines will result in increased competition for limited federal funding and will injure their ability to compete successfully for National Institutes of Health stem cell research money.

...

In his decision, Lamberth concluded that the two researchers have demonstrated a strong likelihood of success in their argument that the Obama administration's government guidelines violate the intent of the law about federal funding of embryo destruction.

This is my problem with the ruling, why should two researches be allowed to sue because they might loose some federal funding? The funding is there to move science forward not pay for your life style.
