I am looking to find an old game I played in high school. Around 1994 to 1998. I'm pretty sure I played it in 1996 or 1997, but the game might be a year or two older.

I know this is a long shot as I don't have a lot of information to describe it, but I figured this would be my last best chance of finding it.

I'm pretty sure it was on a CD and I swore it was a D&D type game. I even went through this D&D game list and none of them were it. You played as a nation kinda like Nobunaga's Ambition with an army. You had these "hero" type units that would level up through battles. In between battles you would send these heros on random quests of varying difficulties (which you'd know easy/medium/hard with corresponding rewards) before hand. You had no control of them completing the quest and if they succeeded they would gain experience, level up and get better gear. Randomly however they would just die on the quests and you'd have to buy or hire new heros starting from level 1.

Battles were in a overhead, looking straight down and you would control your hero to go fight, it looked kinda ala Gauntlet type view.

So... Thats all I got. I don't know why but I've just been on a nostalgic tear lately on old games and not knowing this is simply bothering me.

That sounds more like a Heroes of Might & Magic type game, but HOMM itself didn't have quests. Disciples, Age of Wonders, ...?

Koei?

It was on a PC, I stated CD because I'm 95% sure it wasn't on floppy disks.

Nevermind, my brain was soft for a second. I read Nobunaga's Ambition and the console part of my brain kicked in.

Koei did do PC games.

Well it looks a lot like this game http://www.goodolddays.net/game/id%2C182/Fantasy+Empires.html but I can't tell from the screen shots if it is the game. I remembered it having better graphics and I can't determine if there are hero type units that you send on quests.

Yes.. I'm obsessed in finding this game :)

Nope, looks like this is the game I was looking for woo! Better game plan explanation here - http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/825/Fantasy+Empires.html

Now on the the next game in my head.

It's even older then this game and it's set on the moon, post human kind on earth we've colonized the moon. You grow your outpost on the moon and send out beacons to random planets/astriods to find minerals for mining purposes. You build various types of buildings but it's important to build up your fighter space ships as occassionally random aliens will attack you. When this happens you go into this super old school shooting type view. With just a cross hair on the screen as you try to shot at a single or a several ships flying at you. As you shot them their numbers decrease, if you get hit your numbers decrease. Who ever reaches zero first loses. This one was definatly on a floppy disk, the smaller of the two...
