I can't see the following combination requiring more than a 400W power supply but maybe someone can school me on this:
Motherboard: SuperMicro MBD-X9SCM-F-O
CPU Xeon I3 1230 V2
32GB RAM
6 SATA drives (max)
Maybe a dvd or BR burner
No graphics are or constant use.
I have had people tell me I could get by with 550W but a 750W may be a better choice. It is not the money for the unit that is a big concern, it the waste of electricity over the long run (money and it is a waste) fan noise and heat.
SuperMicro is kind of skimpy on their specs but I have found that under a full load the CPU and board run at 120W (so maybe 150W max board draw).
I have only ever bought Antec PSUs sowas thinking and EA-380
So what do I need in this unit?
thanks so much.
