In today's world, Immigration is becoming frowned upon..look at all the nationalist/strongmen leaders being elected. If they reach the border, and Trump strong arms and repels them, IMO it will translate to a Republican win in November.

People do not seem to be seeing the alarming fact that this caravan is a gift to the Republicans (in addition to being a human catastrophe). It is like a moving image of how Republican supporters see Latin Americans: a growing horde of violent criminals clamoring to get in.

I don't believe the Soros conspiracy theorists one bit, but if this were a Soros-funded attempt to rally the vote in favor of Democrats it would be one of the most poorly thought out ones conceivable. The other conspiracy theory would be the horde was organized by Trump himself or his Russian partners.

immigration is fine, if done legally.
i know a few immigrants, they are very vocal against illegal immigration
dont confuse legal and illegal immigration.

And for the record, when I was posting here last Thursday around noon, I had just found out some very bad news about an old friend. I had been in contact with them, even spoken with them recently, and knew they were having health problems, but it seems no one knew quite how bad those were. So I was pretty upset, and probably shouldn't even have been posting here at that time.

i really think this should be looked at as an invasion
If a poor, unarmed bunch of desperate refugees is what's considered an invasion these days, then I hate to think of what it'll look like if America were ever to really be invaded.
Like I said earlier, this is a sign of America's decline. Throughout all of history, whenever a nation is rising in power and prosperity, it looks to the future and welcomes as many new ideas and new peoples as it can. And when that nation starts to decline, it does the opposite.

What laws have I ignored here? Are you saying that we cannot even discuss our laws without having the intent of breaking them? That if we are to be good citizens that we must blindly follow every law without questioning? Is that what you're saying?

Where's your outrage to the fact that Devin Nunes's family moved their dairy farms to Iowa and are using illegal labor to run them? Is that ok? Why doesn't ICE pay them a visit? You can't have it both ways.

This thread is a pretty good example of how easy it is to whip conservatives into a frenzy about an issue that has basically no chance of ever affecting their lives. The GOP clearly knows its in trouble in the upcoming election and so they've gone all-out on the xenophobia/culture war nonsense.

Of course if they GOP is successful they will once again do nothing on immigration and will instead further cut taxes for rich people and pay for it by cutting medical care to people. That actually does affect people's lives but the GOP base instead wants to scream about dirty brown immigrants.

So an army of people who want a chance to mow my lawn or pick fruits and veggies as they climb the ladder of success are a threat to me?

That's beyond stupid. If every farm & processing plant in America were raided the supply of agricultural products would be crippled. If ICE set out to deport every illegal in America it would be like the fucking Gestapo.

so you are against enforcing laws and support criminals?

When you have to put words into others' mouths you've already lost the argument. I'll put it to you another way- what do you think it would take to deport all the illegals in this country & what would it do to us in the process?

Or just go on with self righteous fact free ranting that solves nothing & flies in the face of reality.

Makes you wonder what's so great about USA that they all want to come here. We could create a caravan of Canadian and United States citizens and head down past Mexico, but...why?

So why is it again that you are all outraged about a bunch of poor refugees that will likely never even reach the US border, and will be turned back if they do?

Outrage? So now wanting EVERYONE (no exception) to follow EXISTING immigration rules and laws = outrage per you and your ilk? Quick, better tell Australia (my post #46 in this thread), Mexico (from another poster), and every single sovereign nation on Earth to cool down their outrage. How dare they do such things at their borders?

Still waiting for you or anyone that supports ILLEGALS to name one, just one country that you could sneak in/overstay the visa and after a few years, all will be forgiven. Anytime now, right guys? LOL. Talk about fairness, equality, and for the working class that liberals love to preach. Do as you say and not as you do = ??? Of course, not hypocrite, not at all, eh?

One more thing, another example of your "calm and measured" post -

Or maybe this entire story is bullshit.

Since I am a moron as you claimed, I am not smart enough to understand that "fucking" and "bullshit" = "calm and measured", right? :D

How about this; I want you to go one week without consuming a food product that was at least partially produced using illegal immigrant labor.

just as soon as you, and some friends, go to the border
each gets 1 or 2 of these illegals, and takes them home
you get to provid food, clothing, medical, ect.
with no help from tax money of course

Asylum seekers who pass all the tests aren't illegals. Also, these are hard working people who don't seek govt assistance.

For a lot of us, we can do that simply going to the garden in our back yards. And I live in a city.

There are also local farmer's markets just about everywhere, where local farmers who aren't even big enough operations to employ armies of illegal laborers sell their stuff very affordably, and usually much better quality than the big business labor-cheaters.

Your lazy ilk has been arguing the same stupid shit since it was slavery instead of the current illegal labor racket. You assholes have always insisted ending your slave/illegal labor rackets would end the economy. (Despite the fact most nations on earth manage to feed themselves just fine without exploiting their third world neighbor).

And ofcourse, ending slavery didn't tank the economy, it made it far stronger. The south was made far poorer by allowing a few fat cat assholes to undermine everyone else with their slave racket.

Gee, as it turns out, its NOT actually good for a few plantation owning nitwits to gut the legal/fairly paid market with their illicit one. But dipshits using your 'logic' were there back in the day telling dirt poor southerners they couldn't possibly do any of that work themselves, and 'lets see you go a day without some slave providing everything for you!'

Your ilk wants to sit up on the porch sipping your mint Julip while armies of illicit labor toils the fields for you, because you're too good to any of that icky labor stuff yourself and you don't believe (stupidly) that any US citizen has ever been a farmer.

The fat cats running illegal labor rackets and cheating the American farmer/carpenter/childcare worker/landscaper/factory worker/ electrician/plumber and on and on thank you for being an enabler of them to cheat the system, sell out the US worker, undermine wages and work conditions, and exploit your greed for profit.

They aren't actually giving you much for cheap either. It's been estimated that a fully legal system would cost Americans a whopping $16 annually in price increases. But the gain in increased wages and less strain on social systems burdened by illicit workforces is immense.

Your chickenshit is no different than assholes who said 'go for a week without slaves doing all the hard stuff!' And when people who aren't soulless assholes like you eventually shut down your illicit labor rackets, the economy doesn't crash, the sky doesn't fall, and price of everything doesn't rocket permantly to the moon.

If it were even remotely true, everyone would be starving and unable to feed themselves in every nation on earth that doesn't border Mexico and places like it.

From what I understand, these types of caravans have been happening for years.
yup, they go to the border, ask for asylum, a few get allowed in for further review, and the vast majority get turned away at the border. but MS13! and LAWBREAKERS!
