People with children have other family members. I just want to avoid the fiascos of the past. You know how this is gonna play out.
The fiascos of the past where literally nothing happened except a whole lot of Republican pearl clutching?

Searched but could not find another post so here it goes ...

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...p-threat-to-cut-aid-to-honduras-idUSKCN1MQ1UX

Another caravan of migrants is heading north from Honduras towards Mexico and The US of A. The caravan has grown from about 1,500 to now about 3,000 people. If and when it gets to the US border there is no telling how large it will be.

The President has threatened to stop the migrant's entry into the US as well as cutting aid to Honduras (as well as other countries) if they do not start controlling their borders and stopping the migration. In response, the president of Honduras has voiced his disappointment with the lack of aid and investment in his country. In the article above notes that the organizer of the caravan has been detained because he did not comply with Guatemalan immigration rules” and would be deported back to Honduras in the coming hours. President Trumps threats seem to have hit a nerve. Will it stop the migration and illegal migrant entry into the US ... probably not.

The article provides a quote from the organizer of the caravan: “What Trump says doesn’t interest us. These people are fleeing. These people are not tourists.” Does this not sound like an entitlement statement? Whether you love/hate Trump, the country has immigration laws and the entry of a person into the country without a valid Visa is illegal.

What's your take ... and are you prepared for another influx?
Funny. Just in time for the mid-terms.

"Wait...so kidnapping their children wasn't enough of a deterrent???

I don't understand, why won't these parents stay in their crime and corruption riddled countries rather than risk everything for a less than 1% chance of a better life for their kids???

Hmm..."

Nothing worse than a self hating........Miller.

Conservative amygdala stroking. Keep those fight or flight neurons fired up, there's snakes in the grass and spiders in the trees. If you let go of that branch you'll fall to your death.

Apparently 3000 people seeking to escape crime, violence, and an ineffectual, boldly corrupt government in their daily lives are only ever going to commit crimes in the place where they seek asylum.

That makes sense.

I am also skeptical of any claim that these 3000 people, essentially risking everything they have, are somehow more of a threat to this country than the 77000 morons, risking nothing, suffering from nothing, that made the difference in minority support of our Dotard-in-chief. Talk about a privileged bunch of goons that represent a real danger to American life.

Not sure why they are just targeting the US. A more realistic and reliable solution would be for Mexico, US, and Canada to all take a third of the refugees, the three countries should be working together. They should also be pooling their resources together to make sure any admitted are here to help benefit the country they want to take refuge in, weed out the few criminals and potential terrorists that may be hiding in the caravan to gain entry.

It's a sign of America's decadence IMO that many people believe that a few poor refuges represent some kind of grave threat to our national security.

Yea, such a wild idea to want to vet those who come to our country and have a secure border. Those crazy conservatives!

All those possible MS-13 members Fox and Trump raves about, even though MS-13 only makes up 1% of all the gangs in America.

This has nothing to do with vetting people who come to our country or about having a secure border. We already do that and have that, and no one here is arguing otherwise.
This is about how you and your ilk live in constant fear of ridiculous phantom menaces.

How about the US uses a similar strategy from Australia (remember how liberals love to use Australia as an example for anti 2A/guns control) - https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-45327058

Let them stay as long as they want as families. Amazing how the number of "immigrants" went down after that policy was strictly enforced. Shocking I am telling you. <sarcastic>

In other news, in October 8, 2018 issue of Bloomberg, it has an article about how countries such as Canada, Australia, Israel, Germany, etc, are rolling out the welcome mats for the immigrants with skills in automation, cloud computing, AI, and other high techs. Funny how none of them scope up them unskilled peasants. Talk about xenophobics and haters, right guys? LOL.

Those countries don't have large farming areas.

Thought experiment for you: You are a family man and you're fleeing your country because you and your family are absolutely not safe any more. Do you take the kids?

That's just aside from the fact that in the scenario you describe, conservatives would then say, "obviously they're not genuine asylum seekers, they're just trying to milk the system: you can tell by the fact that they left their kids in the situation they're supposedly fleeing, no decent human being would do that!".

They are not our responsibility. Period.

Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that "Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution." The United Nations 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees guides national legislation concerning political asylum.
