Another day another inspector general fired

Amazing that firing an inspector general without any specific cause in the middle of multiple investigations is barely batting eyelashes.

One of those investigations was into emergency declaration to authorize arms deals to the Saudis bypassing Congressional oversight. We need his materials preserved and to get him under oath ASAP.

"I said, 'Who appointed him?' And they say, 'President Obama.' I said, 'Look, I will terminate him.' I don't know what's going on other than that. You would have to ask Mike Pompeo. They did ask me to do it, and I did it," Trump said.

Well, there's that "O-word" again, and it's all DJT needed to hear to fire the IG, Pompeo's recommendation or not.

That's totally normal. Not at all against the law.. which requires written reasons presented to congress for the firing of an IG.

Of course, since the DOJ doesn't believe the president should have any oversight and we've already seen what happens when the president breaks the law/defies congress (nothing), I suspect we'll just see continued open and blatant corruption continue.

The truly awful thing is that it's all-too-likely that Pompeo's abuse of his staff's time was deliberately leaked to distract from the Saudi arms deal investigation.

Yep, they want to be talking about Pompeo's dog-walking needs rather than the billions the Sauds paid the Kushner family (not the US) for US weapons.

Wonder if all other former administration holdovers banding together to collect as much corrupt details they can find?

Some more about pompeo. Doesn't say the IG was looking into the dinners, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Others were claiming that he was using these dinners (taxpayer paid), to "cultivate a user baser for pompeo
and his political ambitions. They called the "Madison Dinners".

Plus he has his wife, a non-gov't official, taking care of of the organizing of all these dinners, as well as the menu,
dates and the guest list.
"Officials involved in carrying out the dinners say all the information collected by the State
Department during the invitation process, including the names and contact information for
potential guests, is emailed back and forth to Susan Pompeo's private Gmail account.
"

"Unlike for most State Department events, cost estimates for the dinners aren't circulated to staffers working
on the events, officials said. But two sources with knowledge of the events and the underlying costs estimated
that the bill probably runs several hundred dollars per plate, likely pushing the total cost of the dinners to date into
the six figures. "

How many IGs did the corrupt Obama fire?

I think just the one—the AmeriCorps IG who wanted to bring criminal charges against Sacramento mayor/baller Kevin Johnson over a nonprofit he ran with Anericorps funds. Case went to a US Attorney who ultimately settled out of court, and IG Walpin then tried to go around that settlement which brought an ethics complaint against him. Definitely politically motivated IMHO, even with the ethics complaint, and Obama caught some flack from Senate Democrats.

Well, he has no friends in the department he leads, so he has to chum up with his potential political benefactors. Personally, I think he's dead duck if he chooses to run for the Senate.

Looks like this IG was getting too close to Pompeo.

We might have to make it so that IG’s can be nominated by the president but only fired by congress.

Reactionary legislation doesnt always work out and often backfires. Like the nuclear option for example.

Collaborator.
