I just got this set last week (for $179.99 minus the $25 coupon, guess I'll send them an email**) and I LOVE these pans. Super heavy aluminum, even heating, really nice, especially for the money. Way better than your average T-fal walmart set, that's for sure. They came really fast too, ordered on Friday, got them Wednesday with standard shipping.

If you have a Linen and Things nearby, they stock these so you can check them out in person (I wouldn't bother trying to price match though! This set sells for $299.99 at LNT)

**UPDATE: Amazon is just so cool, all I had to do was shoot them an email (last night around 10pm EST) and by 12 midnight, they had already responded saying they will credit me the balance!

If yer already a Costco member, get the ones mentioned in the 2nd posting.

Consumer reports reported them more durable....

Heh nobody else find it funny that the Costco house brand was #1?
FWIW though I couldn't find the nonstick Costco brand at my local Costco, they only had the stainless steel stuff.

Hehe... just did a TON of researching for pans. CALPHALON is regarded as the best brand, followed by ANOLON. Now remember, there are also different grades within each brand. ANOLON ADVANCED is the top, then ANOLON TITANIUM, etc... Though they seem to be pretty much the same except for the lids.

A few weeks ago Amazon had the ANOLON ADVANCED 12 Piece set for $234 - $25 OFF. I snapped those puppies up because they're normally $399 (and now, they're $399 again). ANOLON pans are awesome. Love them so far.

I've gotten Anolon pans. Calphalon pans. Allclad pans. Even Cuisinart pans. I got Anolon last month, the 10" and 8" fry pans. They are nice, actually. Deep, heavy, substantial. They seem to be always on sale at Amazon. These guys are the value pans, the ones they sell at a big discount to draw you into using the line. The other brands also have similar heavily discounted "entry" items. These are almost always discounted at Amazon. Over the past 5 years I've mostly used Calphalon. The nonstick has worn out after a year or so of use. I send them back to them and they send me new replacements. Sometimes the replacements are a higher end line than the originals because the originals aren't being made any more. A bit of a pain, to send them, but in the end a very good deal. Every nonstick pan I've gotten eventually wears out. The nonstick isn't forever. The most recent pan I've gotten is not nonstick. It is cast iron. It's heavy. A Le Creuset 9". It also costs more, 60 bucks or so, and that's on sale. But they also have Loge cast Iron for 10 bucks or less (preseasoned). The cast iron actually becomes nonstick if you don't wash them with soap. We just use a vegetable brush (the Oxy Good Grips one for 5 bucks or so from Amazon) to clean it, with hot water only and then a paper towel. The pan is non stick like the teflon ones. But, I remember seeing Julia Child on tv talking about how her favorite pans are the teflon nonsticks, the cheapies. She just throws them away after a while (or maybe sends them in for replacement?). There are also these cheapo Faberware pans (I think it's a set of three for 10 bucks, with maybe a 5 buck MIR in addition). Those actually are lightweight but they work and are the best value around. To sum up, the Anolon set is ok if you need a set. If you just need a nonstick fry pan you can get the 10" French Skillet for 16-18 bucks or so. That's quality and excellent value.

lol i also did alot of cookware research.

It seems the best way to go is to have a combination of anodized aluminum and stainless steel in your cookware aresenal. I believe there is an All Clad brand set out there that does this.

What the main deifference between the titanium set and this set?

A little more money, but are they better? The wife is wanting some new cookware, but I don't really know much about it. Any insights are much appreciated.

Totally different. Those are all-clad (i.e., stainless cooking surface) pans. They're not non-stick. Both are high-quality, but they're not the same thing.

Ahh, thank you. I didn't realize they were not non-stick. Not exactly what we want.

Edit: What about this set: Anolon Professional 12-Piece Nonstick Cookware Set $169.99
These are highly discounted which always makes me a little hesitant. Is the professional series supposed to be better quality than the Titanium series?

i'm not sure which would be the better set. between the pro and titanium.

for the stainless steel vs anodized. Anodized is nonstick, but the pan doesnt last forever. Stainless steel is just the opposite, it lasts forever, but its not nonstick. Thats why i think its best to have anodized pans and stainless steel pots.

I have no idea what the Pro series is, but the pricing seems similar to what I paid for the Titanium - I imagine it's just a matter of which complement of pots is better for your uses. My understanding is that their top line is Advanced, but that the Advanced pots are pretty much the same as the Titanium ones, but with clear lids. The Pro line looks to be the same as the Advanced.

I'm confused about the ovensafe rating on Amazon. Is only the handle ovensafe to 500 degrees?
I gather they only mention the handle because this particular handle is more temperature-resistant than most. I assume the whole pot can take this kinds of temperatures. Isn't a stove burner much hotter than 500 degrees? I assume it is, since, say, a fish stick will take several minutes to cook and burn at this temperature, whereas it will burn immediately if placed over a burner.

generally the handle is the part that isn't oven safe. the rest of the pan is usually good. i had a handle explode on me when i was heating a pot-roast in the oven, once.

very few things actually require non-stick pans. stainless steel is easy to clean when the pan is still hot, and if it isn't you can use about anything you want to clean it off. (dishwasher++). cast iron is the best, but it is also the hardest to clean because you can't use soap on it (or you'll lose the nice non-stick surface of all those fats stuck into the pan).

From what I can tell from the Analon website, they don't make the Professional line anymore, so it's probably just a clearance price. I've never seen them myself so I can't comment on the quality. If it's at all important to you, the Titanium set is dishwasher safe, where anodized aluminum must be handwashed.

I personally prefer the metal lids of the Titanium to the glass lids. They are very high quality and not unnecesarily heavy or fragile.

I'll say it again, I love 'em!

Ahh, likely a clearance item, that would make sense. Thanks for that info.
