It's a sport but so is Chess. Just not the most athletic of sports. But still enough to separate men and women.
Now take dressage, horse jumping. Men and women can compete on an equal level because
the horse is the athlete.

In my personal opinion, a sport consists of three things: skill, athleticism, and competition. I don't consider chess to be a sport, and I didn't think of golf as much of a sport either until I played it. It may not be as intensive as soccer or hockey, but it is a sport.

Not that I usually care about golf, too damn boring, but Im actually enjoying this.

It's fun to see the whining of the male golfers, though it is also unfortunate evidence that there are many men around who still behave like cavemen when it comes to the whole woman/man thing.

Any man who complains that much about this one time thing has got to have some serious complex.
Or to put it another way, a bunch of wussies.

Heck, back when I played alot of bowling(another sport that isn't as much about brute force as it is technique, but where men are still better generally speaking), I could beat most women playing in pretty good leagues.
But once a chick played with us, or actually against us, and she beat me, maybe I should have started whining about women playing in the male league
rolleye.gif

I merely thought it was pretty funny, she, unlike most women, beat me, good for her, if I'd have won, good for me, who gives a crap, it was still fun.

Sometimes Im ashamed to be a man, thanks to asshats like those whiners

What I dont understand is if she can play in the PGA tour, why can't men play in the LPGA? If she wins she would win her share of the $. If men were allowed to play in the PGA chances are they'd go just for the $ also and probably take most if not all of it, right?!?!?! It's cool if she does well but she will be opening up the argument that men should also be allowed to cross between the leagues. I'd play in the LPGA if I was good enough to almost guarantee me some $$$. Good thing I dont know how to play Golf, huh...

I could be wrong...

There's a slight difference.
This is a one time thing, to see how it goes.

Everyone knows how it would go if the (cave)men started playing in the LPGA, there's no point.

We'll find out tomorrow, won't we?

Indeed we will. I hope she plays better, I just don't see it happening with her approaches being a 7 wood half the time. Oh well.

approach shot with a 7 wood for 7000-yard par 70? Jesus she's lucky they aren't playing an average length course. North Shore Country Club has a 7,600 par 72 from the WHITE tees (add about 2-4 hundred for the blue tees) and Ozaukee Country Club has a a 7800 par 71. Now anyone that denies that this is a short course is either lying or doesn't know that much about golf.
IMO if they played an average length course, she would be luck to be +5 after the first day.

My defenition of sport is weider then that. I would say that tournament chess falls under the Sport header. Chess can be physical intensive also depends on how you define it. There are moments of pressure (playing under pressure of time) that can cause physical reactions.

True.

But unless you have some specific reason to, other than "A woman shouldn't be allowed in the PGA" it's petty.

If she was mean to your kids or dog or something, I'd understand.

she has freely admitted she can't compete on "average" length courses. she pretty much hanpicked the colonial for it's downplay on length.

As does last year's winner, Nick Price (who was only one stroke better than Annika yesterday, BTW).

Everyone knows how it would go if the (cave)men started playing in the LPGA, there's no point.
Additionally, as I have tried to point out already, even if a few women qualified for the PGA via Q School there's no guarantee they'd make any money on the PGA tour. You have to make the cut to make money. If you don't make the cut, you go home empty-handed. Regardless of what happens this weekend with Annika, there's no way the whole LPGA is going to come knocking on the PGA tour's door because it would be pointless.

This whole thing at the Colonial is just an answer to the obvious "what if?" question of "how would the best female golfer in the world fare in a men's tournament?".

That's it. Nothing more. All you people pontificating about "equality" and such are so far off base it's not even funny.

From what I hear, she's even nastier than Annika. 300 yard drives and a really good short game.....at 13 years of age. :Q

Thanks for answering a question I never asked. I asked if women are allowed to qualify/play in the men's tourny, why can't men play in the WOMEN'S just for the $.

The person who doesn't know much about golf is you. 7000 yard par 70 is definitely long. And your crazy stats you gave about Ozaukee Country Club. Check out this and when you select your Ozaukee Country Club, from the back tees we get a 6653 yard par 70. The back tees (which are the Blues by the way) tip out to 7031 yards for a par 72 - that means they have 2 par 5's where The Colonial has par 4's. Lets estimate a modest 100 yard difference between par 4 and par 5 and your North Shore Country Club would be a 6831 yard par 70. If you are going to spout facts claiming you are all high and mighty, you might want to make sure your facts are even in the realm of reality. Come on, 7600 yards from the middle tees?!?!? What are you on? And a 7800 yard course?!?! Even Castle Pines in Colorado (where the air is thinner and the ball flies ~ 10% farther than near sea level) tips out at 7594 yards.

Thanks for playing. Try again.

What is the purpose of the LPGA ? If women are going to play in the PGA ?

You're wrong. I turned down your dad even though he asked.

please get back to your dolphines you sick bastard

for someone who dishes it out, you sure can't take it

you're funny

LOL,

short course, perfectly suited for a chick.

No cut for you. Now pack up and go back to playing with girlies.

Silly girl, no golf for you!!!!

<---smiling smugly and laughing at anybody who thought she would actually make it. Stupid, weak, can't play with the big boys chick.

Seconds edit, make that "can't play with the big boys no matter how much steroids and weight training you do, chick"

She didn't belong out there and it showed. Period. Women can't compete with men when it comes to sports. Plain and simple.

All this moralizing is making my head hurt 😕 Someone should post some pictures of hot golf playing chicks. Or just hot chicks playing golf. Or maybe just some hot chicks.
