I think that tradition and social values have held and is still holding more woman back then anything else. Im not saying that they anytime soon will compete with men equal in all sports, but there are sports where they could compete as good as men. I wouldn't be suprised if in Tennis and running and golf that we will in the future see woman beat men.

No offense, but it is obvious you do not compete in sports. Seriously.

If you think tradition and social values "hold women back" then you have never competed against them.

I have. At an amateur competitor level.

IT ISN'T EVEN FUN THEY SUCK SO MUCH. Seriosly.

Do you really thinkg that even the weakest tennis players will be beat by the best female players in the world? Do you honestly believe that? If so then I say again....you do not compete nor do you follow sports.

LMFAO. So the ditzy girl in your 8th grade gym class can't throw a football and that means the weakest male tennis player in the world will beat the best female tennis players in the world? Let me see you go head-to-head with Serena Williams and then we'll continue this discussion.
I got news for you - if you've only played at an "amateur competitor" level then you are as clueless as all the other pimple farmers here.

I couldn't have said it better myself!! 😀

Actually I wasn't referring to any 8th grade antics, but collegiate and above sports.

Its interesting to hear all this banter and still sit smuggly watching a little girl cry like a baby for missing the cut.

On an easy course.

Hand picked for her game.

And she only managed to beat 11 guys in the field.

Crying like a little baby.

Out of morbid curiousity, how old are you?

32.

Back when I was younger I was much more liberal. But years of throwing common sense out the window all in the name of PC has turned me around and shown me the true path to enlightenment.

People are just different sometimes.

Fausto, I believe you are a cyclist? Have you raced in an open event? If so how did the women fair?

I guess I don't understand why you're spewing so much venom over this whole thing (especially at your age.....identical to mine). This whole thing was just a big experiment to see how well the best women's player in the world would stack up against the men and you're turning it into WWIII. As I've already pointed out, a sponsor's exemption for her is really no different than an exemption for the local club pro, junior amateur champ, 60 year-old past champion, etc. You know they probably won't make the cut, but it's up to the sponsor to include them or not. This is not some kind of huge affirmative action thing where all the women will come streaming over from the LPGA or something. They almost certainly wouldn't qualify were they to go through Q School, and even if they did they wouldn't make any money at tour events. Hell, I know a guy who was a star golfer in college (Wake Forest), qualified for the Tour on his first try, played for a few years and had to quit because he couldn't make enough money to support his family. If someone like him can't do it, what makes you think there'll be some mass defection of female players?

It's really just not that big a deal. It was interesting to see how she'd do, she played pretty well, but not nearly good enough to make the cut. Oh well.....life goes on.
