Well I did it.

I listened to parts of her speech.

First, she indirectly used the term lovely human, she did not call Edwards one directly. She made a joke in reference to a TV show. Second she later on was quite supportive of gays.

so, basically, when Ann says something offensive its news, if a liberal does it its not, after all we expect liberals to be bigots don't we?

Let's be accurate. She didn't say anything to support gays, she said gays should be republican because their policies like tax-cuts are gay friendly.

It's news to one of the party's most important base, and this base is easy for her to fire up.

One of the Republican party's biggest, most reliable base are white, rural southern and western men. Politics is theatre, and everything Republicans say and do is directed at this base. The need to act macho, to take charge, be tough, never admit you're wrong etc...

Coulter's provocative comments while on the surface are repugnant, below the surface homophobic jokes which elicit laughter, Republican's insinuations that Democrats are weak and effeminate are all aimed at appealing to the base and maintaining control and power. Many of these men have concerns about loss of power, loss of control, and insecurities about their masculinity.

Hey Shivetya, doesn't all of that spinning make you dizzy?

You can be a Republican without defending that hack Coulter, you know ;)

My opinion on Ann Coulter:

He looks like a man. Wait, he looks like a woman. Must be a drag queen who likes to plagiarize in his books.

I just don't like cheaters. Plagiarism should not be tolerated. Neither should hatred. This woman is full of hate, it's unbelievable.

Pretty well hit it on the head (no awful pun intended)

That's what bothers me the most about her. Much of what she says hurts the republicans she supposedly represents. There are much more effective ways to attack an ideology or set of politics that you disagree with. Calling people names, as Coulter is prone to do, just makes you look like an idiot.

Didn't Al Franken write a book called 'Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot'
Guess it is ok to insult the right, but there is hell to pay if you insult the left.

BTW calling Edwards a 'i love you' is a pretty stupid comment, but stupidity does not have a political affiliation, it is non-partisan.

"Big fat idiot" is hardly equal to "lovely human." Even you should know that.

But... Rush IS a big fat idiot...
John is not gay, for one. And secondly, there is nothing wrong with gays.

So.. You know what I say? Screw that bitch. She's a complete joke, and so are her followers.
