Ankles still swollen years after sprains

About 6 years ago, I severely sprained both of my ankles in about a 3 month time frame. I went to the doctor for both and they told me they weren't broken - just severely sprained. At the time, my ankles got pretty huge from swelling, but eventually shrank. However, my left ankle is still probably twice its normal size (around the ball) and my right is slightly enlarged. I assume this is an overgrowth of scar tissue from the sprains. Is there anything I can do on my own to try to reduce their sizes?

Ankle damage in particular, in my experience, is infamous for leaving misshapen-looking joints. Honestly, I would say it's either scar tissue or calcification. I don't really think there is anything you can do now, years later. Initially you probably could've done some scar mobilization massages, but I don't know if that's still an option.

I have the same issues ... my wife is a yoga instructor, and she often has me sit on my heels, and it is excruciatingly painful for me. If I do it regularly though, I really notice the range in flexibility increase, and they feel less tight. They still look larger than necessary, but I don't really care much about that. If you find any other exercises, let me know as I'd be interested too.

I did the same with my ankles playing basketball. Very very bad swelling... to this day no pain, but if i rotate my foot in circles it can pop easier than rotating my other foot in circles.

It doesnt like cold weather and its something im going to have to live with for a long time.
