Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and explain this to everyone, since no one but me seems to understand this. (No offense meant to you... took me a bit of research and thinking to figure it all out):
- Okay, the two main characters are Duo (the guy) and CIS (the girl). CIS is pronounced the same as "sis"-- which clears up the former thought that Duo was related to her.
- Duo is the guy in the simulation, AND the guy who unplugs her. They look a little different but that's to be expected since he wans't clad in his armor and wasn't all clean as he was in the simulated world. This explains how Cis and Duo had a relationship, and why she punched him at the end.
- Now, the tricky part is... how come he didn't die when he was stabbed? There's no concrete answers... some say that it was just an artificial version of Duo in the simulation, and not Duo himself... others say that it was Duo, and that he was there, and he was stabbed (in the simulation) BUT he was unplugged before he actually died so he didn't die in real life. I tend to believe the first version, since he had to be unplugged BEFORE Cis since he unplugged her... AND the fact that he comments on her performance makes me think he was just observing her.
SOOOoooo... in summary: It's "CIS"... not "sis".... Duo is a real person, same guy that unplugged her, BUT in the simulation it wasn't really Duo, just a computer program of him.
