Doesn't sound like a cold sore, sounds like angular cheilitis. I get that too every winter and have been unable to prevent them from forming but I have gotten it to heal faster though with Burts Bees lip balm.

Hi, I suffer from this ever so often. Recently, I was prescribed an over the counter fungal cream (Daktarin) with a Hydrocortisone cream. this cleared the condition to a point but it never went away fully then started to get worse again. Visiting the doctors again, I was prescribed an anti-bacterial cream (Fucidin - Fusidic acid). The condition has now cleared after about 3 days. So what can start as angular cheilitis can develop in to a secondary bacterial infection. So if you've tried anti-fungal creams and they are not working, talk to your doctor and see if it might now be a bacterial infection. Hope this helps. E
