I can vouch for the CML174SX series. I have the CML174SXW (the white one), and its excellent for games. Better than many CRTs that ive used.
If you`re a hardcore gamer then going CRT is probably your best bet,
Not starting on you here, so dont take it as a flame against you.
But what makes a Hardcore gamer? I mean you get people on these forums saying that to be a hardcore gamer you must have this bit of hardware, you must use a computer in this way, you must use this software, but its all a load of bullsh1t. Whos to say whos the more hardcore of a gamer, the person with the rig that can run everything in high res with all of the "reccommended" parts, or the person who has a "budget" rig who runs in low res.
Its all a matter of sterotypical opinion.
Many people here agree that CRTs are better than TFTs for gaming, and rant on about how "the hardcore gamer would get a CRT over a TFT", which imo is bollocks, if one person gets a TFT over a CRT it doesnt make him/her any less of a gamer than the person who opted for a CRT.
There are several other examples that come to mind as well.
choosing between LCD and CRT for gaming is a very personal thing, good luck with your final choice.
Good point there. Its all down to personal preference.

A panel with a digital DVI input might be preferable for gaming as well. They should give the most crisp image quality, and some apparently have less ghosting than with the analog VGA input.
I believe all these have DVI:
Dell 1800FP
Samsung 172T
NEC 1760NX
Viewsonic VP171B
Hitachi CML174
The Hitachi does have DVI. And the DVI can help reduce ghosting and trails. Not that the Hitachi suffers from it anyway.
I've heard that the 16ms displays may not offer quite as true color depth. Not sure if you'd notice it though.
They dont display as many "true" shades of some colours, but alternate two other colours to make the eye think its displaying the correct colour. It isnt noticeable at all. Despite what alot of "experts" here say.
