Anger Showing Among Special Operations Forces

Lying about Benghazi by Obama et al has angered people in intelligence and military communities. It wasn't long ago that the Navy SEALs who died volunteering their help were being described by Susan Rice as part of an inept Consulate security team. Members of the military and intelligence communities are starting to openly take on Obama in public.

The other day the CIA (and so Petraeus) issued a public statement saying that nobody at CIA had blocked help for Americans in need. On Friday a retired Lt Col took to the radio airwaves to tell the public exactly how the communication and decision trees relating to Benghazi work. He said there is no way the decision not to help didn't originate from anyone other than Obama and he explains why.

Now other retired special forces members have come together to make a video protesting what Obama is doing. This is in addition to other SEALS who made earlier protest videos, and the parents who are in the media every day now demanding answers. I've read a lot of comments online by people who say they have cried over this affair and the parents plight

I've never seen military and intelligence community (active and retired) members turning on a president in public like this. Americans tend to have more respect for the military than any other institution. Even if Obama wins re-election I don't see how he could ever heal this now open wound. As Larry Johnson posted

"The anger in the SpecOps community over Obama’s failure to respond in force and act decisively in Libya is at a boiling point. Obama has awakened a sleeping beast"

The Lt Col who called the radio was quite fascinating in his "inside baseball" descriptions. He said he was speaking at some risk to himself:

You don't expect Obama to do any shooting this close to the election, do you? More Americans were shot this Friday night in Chicago than on Sept. 11th in Benghazi. That's just life in the big city for Obama.

Unlike inner city crackheads and gangbangers, people actually care if an Ambassador gets shot.

So because of his opinions on two issues anything he says that could possibly be negative against obama is immediately disregarded? You sir are a dumbass.

I meant to add more earlier but Anand went into maintenance mode after I posted.

A main consideration is how this strife between a sitting POTUS and military/intelligence is perceived by bad actors abroad.

When Carter lost the country and showed weakness, there were people and countries that knew they could behave in a sketchy fashion without much fear of any backlash (USSR in Afghanistan, Iranians taking hostages etc).

The Lt Col calling on radio said too many people are afraid to act for fear of a screw-up like happened with Carter and his rescue attempt (Desert One).

No matter if Obama wins or loses I think it would be fair to expect to see some serious liberty taking. If Obama loses I don't think any country would fear much in the way of a reprisal. Obama's whole vibe is like a substitute teacher who doesn't have control when he's in the room and things get even worse when he leaves it.

This whole situation is even more dangerous than it looks today and it looks bad. I expect an eventful next couple of months that will make Carter's end of term look good.

Obama is the one who approved ongoing drone strikes in Pakistan and who had Bin Laden killed, so I take any comments about him being unwilling to commit forces with a giant shaker of salt.

On military matters he's been at least as much of a hawk as Bush, except that he didn't start an unnecessary ground war that killed more Americans than 9/11.

Carter lost the support of the military due to the inevitable post-Viet Nam downsizing of the officer corps. Career soldiers found themselves careerless. Carter's supposed weakness not found.

At most I see the information being presented changing as time goes by. If you believe the administration, and so far Republicans have provided no factual reason not to, it's because the information changed as it was developed and intelligence was gathered. Basically I see Republicans absolutely desperate to make this into a big anti-Obama story and very little factual support for doing so.

I don't think this is really classical anything, because it's hard to think of as good of an example of a manufactured scandal as this.

Well, I was talking about why Obama doesn't care. He'd be pretty callous being a Chicago politician. I doubt he puts government officials lives above anyone Else's and he'd let them die rather than chance starting anything this close to the election.

Not to go off topic, but as far as gangbangers and crackheads go, we should care about them. If not for humanitarian reasons, then because nobody cared about the drug gangs in Mexico or the Taliban, until they took over.
