Anencephalic born in Nepal.

How pathetic the way they parade it around. Even worse if it was dead at that point (which it probably was). Good news is a 4.0 Earthquake will bury the village soon...

It's more appropriate to put 'em in a jar filled with formalin and put 'em on display in a museum, eh?

At first I thought it had to be a fake but looking through the Wikipedia links I am amazed at what I saw.

Truely amazing stuff.

Basically these babies can neither think nor feel, and are therefore only human genetically.

Yea, after reading that, I felt better, knowing that it never felt pain, or anything for that matter.

I'm not a huge Wiki fan but that's a pretty decent summary. Although the article did include at least one obvious logical flaw. Only fringe (or someone working for the insurance companies) would actually endorse euthanasia. The natural history is a relatively quick (days at most) and painless death. Euthanasia wouldn't do anything except free up a NICU bed and reduce costs. Even euthanasia proponents would consider those immoral rationales.

Yes, but according to the fundies, their mothers must endure the pregnancy to the end, give birth, and be permanently traumatized by what they just gave birth to.

Pre-natal care and timely abortion FTW.

I dont think you will find many fundies who think a defect like this will require a full term birth.

But nice try.

I really wasn't trolling... I'd think that you knew I don't do that. I've spoken to people who told me that these defects were ordained by God. I wouldn't have said anything if I didn't have the miserable experience of talking to them.

Well I apologize then. I dont doubt there are a few nutcases out there. But I think the majority of Pro-Lifers would look at this as a major defect that if the mother doesnt naturally abort is within the moral means to do such an act.

Leave it upto Rot to try and connect the dots!

A Lot of people have been talking about birth defects on the rise becasue of DU and chernobyl plant accident, Anencephalic birth defects being one of the signs of such, leave it to you to immediately jump to the defense of poisoning all of us with this crap.

Let me guess, agent orange was just a tasty salad dressing brought to our soldiers and civilians in vietnam by our almighty military too?

What other connections do you have in your google research?

Doesen't take a lot of "brainpower" to put 2 and 2 together, A country nearby littered with depleted uranium and unusual genetic birth defects..hmmm

I think you proved that rather well today.

Basically these babies can neither think nor feel, and are therefore only human genetically.

In the United States, approximately 1,000 to 2,000 babies are born with anencephaly each year.

About 95% of women who learn that they will have an anencephalic baby choose to have an abortion.

Of the remaining 5%, about 55% are stillborn. The rest usually live only a few hours or days.

Many of the women in South Dakota that may get this condition will have to see this horror but they get what they deserve by supporting the Fundies that control their State government.
