yeah my current rom (Devil's Reject for S3) just integrated the Note 2 keyboard with the number row on top. I don't think I can live without it from now on.

I've only used swype and I didn't like it. I can't get into the whole swiping thing. When swiping I can't see where I'm at and lose my spot.
 
BB licensed SwiftKey to keep up with the times, right?

I'm a little surprised Apple hasn't bought Nuance (who bought Swype) or something yet. Or maybe they've tried. I realize that offering a swyping option would violate Steve's our-way-not-your-way philosophy, but Cook seems perfectly happy to put that stuff aside.

It's the reason why I use Kii over Swiftkey despite inferior (but good enough) prediction. Having the choice of a numbers row is nice.

Yeah, but I hope Kii gets prediction and stuff on par. The thing is Swype and Swiftkey have great prediction, but they're good at only one thing. Doesn't seem like either likes to give you options to customize a keyboard the way it should be. The other keyboards like Kii and SmartKeyboard Pro that try to do that cannot invest as much in prediction/autocorrection.

Besides the Atrix 4G and the Triumph/Photon and blah blah, which were all released 2 years ago on other AT&T and Sprint, what else has Motorola ever released on the other US carriers besides Verizon within the past 12-15 months?

The Atrix HD was released over the summer and is basically a RAZR HD. It's got a 1.5ghz S4, 720p screen, LTE capable.

The Photon Q came out over the summer as well, and is basically a Sprint version of the Droid 4.

The Electrify M came out on US Cellular in November, and is basically a Droid RAZR M.

I wouldn't argue that Motorola doesn't have most of its eggs in Verizon's basket, as that seems to be where they're most concentrated, but they are releasing variants on other carriers. In AT&T's case, they basically got the RAZR HD months before it was released on Verizon.

AT&T: Motorola Atrix 2 (fall 2011), Motorola Atrix HD (summer 2012)
Sprint: Motorola Photon Q (summer 2012)

The fact that you didn't know that though, despite the Atrix HD and DROID RAZR HD being extremely similar phones shows the power of marketing and brand awareness.

I knew about the Atrix 2 which was why I specifically excluded it. Didn't know about the Atrix HD on AT&T though.
That must have been one really quiet launch...I guess Motorola and/or AT&T didn't have either of those two things you mentioned.

Yeah, I was hard pressed to find exact specs on the Atrix HD through a Google Search.
I also did a search for "Atrix HD Razr" hoping to get a side by side comparison between the Razr HD and the Atrix HD...Didn't find it either.

Motorola's website had the Atrix HD specs, but was not specific. It just said "dual core". Dual core what? I wanted to know if it was dual core Krait or a dual core rehash from a 2 year old Qualcomm SnapDragon chip.
AT&T website was very specific and had the exact Qualcomm model number which was what I was looking for.
And the Atrix HD didn't have it's specs info page on Wikipedia either.

So much for marketing and brand awareness...

I noted it was "basically" a RAZR HD. The screen is also .2" smaller, it also doesn't have NFC.

To address the launch, it was actually introduced on AT&T as a midrange device. It launched at $100, just after the GS3 had come out and right around the time the OneX dropped to $100. I don't know what the Atrix HD is going for now, but I imagine its < $50.

It does surprise me, lothar, that you were unaware of the existence of the Atrix HD, especially since you posted in a thread about the low key launch of the Atrix HD.

Wow, he forgot he even posted in a thread about it. That just proves my point even more.

HTC has a similar problem on a worse scale. It's not that their phones are terrible, but Samsung is sucking up all of the mindshare.

How can you claim HTC has a similar problem on a worse scale when I don't have a problem remembering their own phones?
Clearly it's not worse.
