Well, MS is -.1 which is a lot better than BB's -1.9 decline. WP8 is almost enough to stop MS from bleeding. It'll take a few years for WP8 to gain traction.

Yeah but I bet BBs numbers look relatively healthy in a quarter or two from now.

I can't quite work out Microsofts numbers. The only thing that I can think is that remaining win mobile users are transitioning over to iOS and Android rather than windows phone.

Apple could put all this to rest simply by making visual changes to their OS. There are so many Apple iPhone users that get more excited by the visual changes Apple makes, more than the upgrading of a processor(which 90%+ of iPhone users don't even notice).

If Apple were to revamp the look, I guarantee their sales would be through the roof.

What roof are we talking about here? The one that they are already blowing through? Or the one that is stopping them because they can't make the devices fast enough?

If Apple made a 4.7" iphone I bet it would be the best selling iphone ever, probably make many Android people jump who went just because of the size. I wouldnt switch because I like Android better but I still like ios. I am not one of these people who dismiss all others besides my OS of choice. I actually like ios, Android and WP

That was a pretty good read. I have to say his views pretty much sum up why I am just riding my contract out with my 4S at which time I will be moving to Android as well.

That was a great read, and it gave me a new app to use, Shush! I'm always changing my volume back to normal after work, but now, I don't have to. Sure I can install Tasker and get the same result, but this makes more sense to me..... also, it's free.

Didn't they cut component orders by 50%? That doesn't translate very well to not making them fast enough.

I wasn't trying to insinuate that Apple didn't already have fantastic sales. That is not a dispute in my mind. What I am saying is, that if Apple were to overhaul the GUI on their iPhone, I can predict sales never seen before. Pretty much every iPhone owner I know would trade in their 4, 4s, or 5 despite contract stipulations to get that. I know a lot of people with 4's and 4s's that were pretty meh about the 5, and will wait.

There are thousands if not millions of iPhone users who upgrade just to have the newest iPhone. A GUI design change would be massive.

Thats only if they restricted the software update to the newest iPhone. I could see that causing some bad feelings maybe.

Funny how it's not common sense to certain fanboys until someone officially declares it's common sense. Then it suddenly becomes "Common sense, we all knew it already." Same thing with P&N.

That was an unsubstantiated rumor that seemed to change faster than it took me to write this sentence.

I'm not saying anything one way or another other than this:

Apple is taking the majority of the profits
Apple is selling a majority of the smartphones (could have sworn it was all phones) in the US
Last quarter was yet another record quarter for Apple

How can Microsofts numbers still be going down?

Also I didn't realise that HTC were bigger than Motorola in the US.
There are 4 carriers in the US.
Motorola phones are only on one carrier, while HTC phones are on all 4 carriers.

Same way I feel about Android, except change the Playskool part to a senior high school computer lab class project.

Motorola phones are on multiple carriers, but Motorola is Verizon's bitch basically and gives that carrier it's best products in exchange for preferential store advertising and the DROID brand on almost all it's phones.

I just read through the articles and I have to say that I agree with him pretty much across the board. The keyboard on Android is hands down way better than the iPhone. Collaboration between apps is way better than the iPhone. And clearly as everyone knows, customization is way better on Android. On the flipside stability is still better on iOS and he (and I) thinks the iOS app selection is better.

It's good to see an article that pretty much reflects my thoughts on the two platforms. I use both. I switch back and forth daily. I think I can objectively view the pros and cons of both. And I think Android has a much better trajectory over the long term (the pace of innovation on the Android side is amazing)... but right now I'm still using an iPhone 5 as my primary device.

Right. I agree. Although, I'd say that the stock 4.2.2 Android keyboard is also excellent.

Yeah both are really good. Swype's keyboard is good too. And the default Samsung keyboard on the Note II is nice with the number row on top.

It's funny that whenever I do the old two finger typing on my phone it feels really odd. In the same way that smaller screens are now foreign to me, so too is the old typing method.
