I wish some Android manufacturer (probably only Samsung could do this today) would just take control and release 3 flagship phones - a 4.2, a 5, and 5.7ish. With bezels shrinking, the end phones would be about the same size of an iPhone 5, Galaxy S3, and a Note 2.

The smaller phones (with resulting smaller screens and batteries), could have lower clocks vs the largest one, with a Stylus sticking to the largest.

All have basically the same software, same top end hardware, and top end build quality. Pricing on contract can be something like $199, $249, and $299.

4" phone is big enough to make calls and maybe play a few games. It's too small for anything else.

Well, hard to not to make them when 50% of the population wants ~6 inch phones since they have things called handbags. Seriously I see a TON of women with Note IIs these days.

ha, I don't think so. If that was the case, apple wouldn't have so many apps on their app store & have made so much money out of 3 1/2" and 4" devices.

Yeah, umm, theres no solid proof that their screens big or small are the reason they made money.

I'm still convinced the number one factor is that cute little logo on the back.

I feel as if my 4" screen can do what i need and want it to do, and i'd prefer if i had an android option that was comparable.

Maybe its just me but i grew up playing games on a tiny gameboy screen... Dont see why you can't still do that on 4".

Its really not just for games. Its for movies and being able to see lots of emails & junk at once. And thats really what I love about my Note 2, the productivity, not the entertainment. Fun stuff is just a bonus.

When I got my 4.3 inch screen 18 months ago it was huge. Now it feels tiny after using a Note. My next phone will have a 5ish inch screen and I don't like using my wife's iPhone for this reason.

I think one thing holding back smaller flagship phones is that need is satisfied by older gen "free" phones still being sold at your local AT&T & Verizon stores. The visual cue that the bigger phone is the better one is easy for people.

I find 4-4.5 inches to be perfect for a phone. 4.7 is kind of pushing it but if it's anything like the One X design I can work with it. The Note/DNA class of smartphones is just too big IMO.

Obviously market research is suggesting that bigger phones will sell better. In my part of the world outside of the us of a more and more people are carrying larger sized phones. People take pics of everything, especially themselves, and they want to see it on large screen. Apple is still selling well as usual but I think they are beginning to lose their prestige. I think a friend of mine summed it up well as he is looking into buying a new smartphone. "With iphone you know your getting a good phone, but with android you dont know which ones are good or which ones are better than the other" So seeing as most people dont know what the specs actually mean on the phone they go with apple and get the piece of mind that they bought a good phone. Another time I see apple sell well is when people buy gifts for friends or companies buy gifts for upper management...oh ya and banks/stores doing a raflle type thing. I see this all the time where a friend is given a iphone from their company. If they were buying a phone for themselves then there is a good chance they will go for the larger sized phone and that means android and windows, of course not everyone. Apple still has a good hold on the market but a 4" screen is becoming pretty outdated. The majority of people who say 4" is big enough quickly change their mind after using a bigger phone for a short period of time.

I think 4.3 in screens are the perfect size, at least till boarder less screens start appearing (we are far from that still). I had a galaxy nexus at 4.6 and it was a bit too big, my gf samsung s3 can barely fit in my hands (normal sized hands). I mean, bigger screens definitely give you a better experience when used 2 handed but they are aweful used like a phone should be used. The note is to me ridiculous and I see tiny women with it and think to myself, you look ridiculous.

I went back to the iphone because of the superior camera and because of the size. Android needs to make a 4.3 in flagship device, they are leaving all the best hardware for the big devices but they will soon realize that the big screen is a fad and people will go back do a nice size screen that is the best in terms of confort/usage experience.

Where the hell are people going to see "a ton of Note 2s"?? I think I've seen one Note in the wild. One.

I also struggle to believe anyone who goes to the gym or does anything that involves contorting their body in any fashion is happy with a 5" phone in their pocket.

3 coworkers have a note/II and they are the complete 180 opposite of a "nerd"; average, unassuming every day people. Needed & useful or not, the phone with the biggest screen will always be a selling point.

Read the bottom square mate

But the graph is very inaccurate the second line surpasses apple by 60B, combined revenue for MS,Ebay,Google,Yahoo,FB and Amazon is 210B, the Apple's is around 150B

For me, I bought 3" xperia mini intentionally, I want a small phone as I don't use it for anything else beside calling and music. Carrying 4-5" phone would be really hassle for me.

That's funny because every where I've looked has Samsung blowing that number away

This site says it made net profit of 22.25 billion for 2012

I dunno where you guys live but I see em a lot. I live in NYC and when I take the subway everyone has their phones out so I get to see a lot of phones. I can tell you that the phone I see the most is the iPhone but I have seen a bunch of notes. That's the phone u can't mistake with anything else because the screen can be seen from miles away

According to actual data, the iPhone 5 and 4S are the best selling #1 and #2 smartphones world wide.

Now that I have a 4.7" phone, I'm thinking my next phone will hopefully be 4.3" or smaller. Big phones are just a PITA.
If the Moto M was non-Pentile, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I too would strongly consider buying the RAZR M if it had a nicer screen. I'd be OK with pentile if it were 720p though.

I have a RAZR m and love it. I don't know a single other person who had it which I find strange since its a great phone and it seems to get better battery life than all my friends s3s. Plus it feels much nicer in hand since its metal and kevlar... Had a galaxy nexus (not a great phone looking back at it) before this and the screen really is no worse than that.

I've seen women and nerds mostly with the note. And its just way too big for me the nexus was probably my border for too big and its not like my hands are small ( I can palm a basketball and I'm 5'10 so mg hands are actually pretty large for my height.

I guess I like the razr m because its just nice to not have your pocket bursting at the seems from a giant phone for a guy when you are out. With a s3 even it'd make a difference in how my pockets feel plus the RAZR m feels great in hand. If they make a razr m 2 with say 720p and say a nicer camera and maybe 2gb of ram that's really all I want out of a phone.

Why is it ok to take apples 4s that is .99 cents with a contract and free on most fair.you do know that Samsung also sold the s3,s2,note 1 and 2 and the mini s3

The gs3,mini and note 2 combined sales blew the iPhone away this year and Samsung does not say how many phones were sold so if your using data from that site that said Samsung is at the bottom and is in the same as rimm I don't know what to tell ya.

The Galaxy S4 leaks have an extremely small bezel. It looks like they're trying to fit the 4.99" screen into the S3 body with a smaller bezel which would be fantastic.
