Yes, you love any press that makes iOS look bad, I get it. How many different sources do we need regarding Android marketshare? Let's post more threads from Comscore, IDC, Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, etc.

I find it funny that maybe a couple months ago, the grocer at my supermarket was saying "I want to be different! Everyone has an iPhone, I'm going to go buy an Android next!".

(I guess he should've said Blackberry if he really cared that much about being different)

This is a thread about mobile operating systems in the mobile devices forum. What's wrong here?

Grow up.

OP, I hadn't realized the huge growth. I guess I should have as last month whilst on vacation with the GF, she and all of her friends had either an S3 or S4. No other brands except for my GFs sisters BF who had an iphone 4s. We all took pics and share em via that sbeam thing. What I found odd was the fact that we are all well over 45 yrs old. :). I think people are tired of the same old same old and are switching to android. I hope the android doesnt become the new iphone. Ie, old foggyish and same old same old. Some would say its like that now.

It doesn't surprise me. Almost everyone around me who upgraded their phones this year went Android. Only a couple chose iPhone 5. One of my friends had a large iTunes catalog including books and videos so she really had no choice but to stay with the iPhone. For the rest, the primary reason has been nearly uniform: Screen size.

Many of them still like their iPads, though.

I saw this headline on my One's news feed and did a double take. 80% is ridiculous, but what's even more ridiculous is that Windows Phone is only 1/3 of the way to matching iOS!

When you put it that way I'm surprised that WP is doing that well.

I hardly ever see WPs IRL.

I wonder if WP8 is only doing better because it is cannibalizing the remains of bb and other systems... I certainly can't see it beating iOS in any way shape or form.

Apple doesn't have a cheap phone. Microsoft does. Even the 5C's reported price of $450 isn't low enough.

Launcher 8?

I like that there are Windows Phone-style launchers out there, but there is something off with all of them, either in animations or just the graphics. They probably look great if you haven't used Windows Phone, but they don't feel quite the same. I stick with Sense 5 on my HTC One even though you would be hard pressed to find a bigger fan of Windows Phone.

The days when hoards of people lined up outside Apple stores to purchase a new iPhone on release day are coming to an end fast.

Not really. Mac vs pc never happened and never will. Mac is what, 7% on the desktop front?

Let's think in terms of operating systems rather than particular hardware, I'm sure there is a much better percentage of macbooks. Android is the new windows where a myriad of hardware producers offer devices at every possible price points and specs. Apple is not doing this and they will be reduced to owning a similar market share as with their macs.

I'm not surprised at the growth of WP8, actually. I've been recommending the Lumia 520/521 to people looking for a starter smartphone on prepaid, or for a device their parents or grandparents can text them and do basic social media. For $90.02 shipped from Amazon it's a rather unbeatable offering.

Most of the Androids sold are of the low end variety, and at the low end no Android device I know of comes close to the 520/521.

Don't know about that ... judging by the way the Apple faithful pounce on anything that disturbs their world view (Apple vs Android) there are still plenty that will prove the allegiance once the next iPorduct is up for sale.

Also, as the Apple faithful have routinely badmouthed Samsung, HTC etal for the monster phones (bigger than 3.5-4 inches) just wait until Apple comes out with a 4.7" sized phone ... you'll see those same folks go on about how Apple invented the large smartphone. Just watch...

Maybe not Mac vs PC. But Apple did start off very strong in the PC market, kinda created it even with the Apple II. And then came the IBM PC and the clones.

Apple focuses on total control and just a few models (with the exception of a short time they allowed clones) and their prices pretty much always been on the premium side. And competitors swarm in with lower priced offerings.

OP is the official harbringer of anything negative about Apple in this forum. Here are his contributions. These are just the threads he starts!

You can argue that some of these posts aren't specific bashes on apple, but his agenda is clear for all to see. I doubt even he would deny how anti-apple he is. The evidence is clear. Why does he feel the need to post Apples quarterly results? Oh yeah, he only posts them when he can turn it into a negative slant.

If you want to bash apple and have everyone agree with you go to reddit. The neckbeard hive mind is strong over there and you will be welcomed with open arms.
