Is it true that the toggles don't toggle? Fail**

I can confirm it doesn't** Yes it's a big fail**

Also, if you're rooted, I don't understand you people who do the clearing the framework and all that nonsense crap** You can manually install it in like less than 5 minutes through adb** Why waste time doing something that might work vs doing something that is guaranteed to work** The Google direct link is available** Download it and flash it manually** It's super easy and once you learn how, you'll never have to wait for OTA again**

This is just another symptom of Google's being rough around the edges at times

"It's super easy and once you learn how"

True user-friendliness means you shouldn't have to learn how
Personally, I'm not going to bother
They need a proper one-click offline installer

I do not see what exactly is a big deal with this update, as far as Nexus 7 is concerned****? Only difference I see so far is battery status label has changed from "Discharging" to "Not Charging**"

Can't wait to see that new notification area with the toggles** Goodbye Widgetsoid!
They should have an iTunes-like software to install the update plugged in, then we wouldn't have to wait all the time**

Quick toggles for Wifi and Bluetooth and stuff? They work, but you gotta dig like in iOS if you don't use a widget**

quick toggle doesn't work like you think it should** It just opens up the setting menu to the item you want to toggle** It's major disappointment as I was looking forward to this**

What?! That's garbage, dang** Please take me back, Widgetsoid!!

"Developer Options" disappeared**** ??

Edit: It's not in the settings but it shows up at the "toggle" area when connected to a PC** Is this an expected behavior?

Do the trick that gets the Android easter egg thing to show up** You should then have your dev options back**

I know people don't like the notification bar being too cluttered, but the way CyanogenMod implements the quick toggles to me is great. It's not intrusive, small bar, perfect. And if anything, the Jellybean expanding notifications is the reason why we run out of room in the notification bar. We never had a clutter issue til 4.1.

Good, maybe they'll pay attention to GV again, it hasn't been updated in nearly a year now.

it's not that it hasn't been updated, it still looks like an Android 1.x app. They need to upgrade it seriously. Even if it was updated a year ago it should have a better UI.

I think it's funny you can see some messaging apps like Facebook Messenger actually looks pretty damn good. That's because it used to be Beluga and it's a separate team from the main FB app. As a result it looks fine. I wish Google would set an example and get all its apps in shape too.

No it doesn't.

It does however need some serious performance improvements.

I suggest putting off the update for Nexus 7 owners. 4.2 broke HBO Go app, it seems. Between this and the Google Voice trouble, I don't think the cosmetic benefit is worth the risk of breaking something that works.

Compared to 4.1.2,

- The UI feels ever so slightly snappier.
- Seems to take longer to charge the battery. 🙁
- You can have slightly more information on lock screen (which might be related to the perceived slowness in battery-charging)

All my subjective feelings. But regardless of subjective feelings, there just doesn't seem to be enough of benefit for the hassle on Nexus 7. It doesn't improve much but there is a chance of something not working, so it's not a good deal, IMO. Disappointing release from Google. I wonder if they were rushed to push out Nexus 4/10 before the holiday season, neglecting quality control.

You're going to get app incompatibility with every major Google update. I know it sucks but it was the same with ICS and JB. I remember JB breaking video players like Diceplayer. But most popular apps are usually updated pretty quick to the new OS. Remember most devs are enthusiast like us so they usually have a Nexus product to test on.

Pretty lame that there is no HDR camera mode on the Galaxy Nexus with 4.2. That feature is available on the Nexus 4. I hope there is good technical reason why this feature is missing on Galaxy Nexus. Because if not, this kind of missing feature and selective software upgrade is the same thing people blast Apple for. Not cool.
