What's amazingly ironic is that you don't see the irony and hypocrisy in your own position. You think it's OK to do the things that, when done by someone else, makes you find them repulsive and worthy of scorn.

I never said it was ok. In fact I said in my original reply I would not take Breitbarts approach. I merely pointed out it's hollow to criticize others for trashing him when he engaged in the very same thing.
 
Being that pissed off all the time at everything can't be good for your long-term health...now if only Rush would have a major aneurism...preferably in the middle of one of his long-winded rants...

Anyway...my condolences to his family.

yeah, he was, pretty much, an absolute piece of trash in life.

I feel sorry for his family, as young as he was, but few will miss him.

"Appropriate time" means enough time for right-wingers to whitewash his legacy without a rebuttal.

But, as far as a journalist, he was scum - a prime example of how often some journalists are deliberately deceptive. (I don't care if you're left or right; deceptive tactics are unethical and should get you fired - rather than promotions because deception increases viewership and revenue.) For example, he was the one who posted a portion of the Shirley Sherrod speech completely out of context (Dept of Ag) that got her fired.

Weird, I saw him just last week in West LA at a KFC across from a school I was visiting. I couldn't figure out who he was at first, and now I know. Crazy.

I'm a little confused by this attitude that we should revere the dead even if we disliked them in life. Did anyone shed a tear when they heard Osama Bin Laden had been killed? No. We didn't respect him in life, why should we start revering him in death? Breitbart was certainly no Bin Laden, but his volatility and dishonesty led many people to despise him (myself included). Why must we reverse our feelings on the man after his death? It's particularly ironic given that Breitbart himself did not show respect to people solely because they died. As I said earlier, I'm not going to celebrate his death, but I'm also not going to give some false sentiment of respect that I don't feel. I will remember him honestly, as someone whose particular brand of "journalism" I found appalling and indefensible.
 
Every "X died" thread is exactly the same. A bunch of vacuous and meaningless "I'm so sorry" posts that eventually turn into someone criticizing the dead while everyone else feigns outrage that someone could so disrespect the dearly departed.

Why shouldn't the occasion of someone's death be used to discuss their life? Is someone supposed to make a thread a year from now saying "hey guys, remember Andrew Breitbart? Now that he's long dead, lets chat about him."? Silliness.

Lets talk about what a horrible person he was now, it's as good a time as any.

Sorry, still feigning outrage as a means of nitpicking my political opposition.
 
I don't know a whole lot about him. I do not visit sites like his.

But I've seen him on TV many times. And I find it odd that so many refer to him as angry and full of rage etc. He was always smiling and joking, usually sitting around with a facial expression somewhere between bemused and mischievous.

Anyhoo: RIP and condolences, that is very young and likely unexpected, if not down right shocking for his family.
