Early this morning, news broke that Sen. Ted Kennedy had passed away after serving in the U.S. Senate for nearly 50 years. Soon after, conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart began a sustained assault on Kennedy’s memory, tweeting “Rest in Chappaquiddick.”
Over the course of the next three hours, Breitbart unapologetically attacked Kennedy, calling him a “villain,” “a big ass motherf@#$er,” a “duplicitous bastard” and a “prick.” “I’ll shut my mouth for Carter. That’s just politics. Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement,” wrote Breitbart in one tweet."

Just something to think about.

That sounds about the right description for the late Ted Kennedy.

Not to say I agree with Breitbart on many other issues. He conveniently twists the truth to further his agenda. I think people like that are damaging the political process.

Just sayin'.

Whether right or wrong, I think Breitbart's death should be appropriated the same type of respect he gave others upon their death.

I don't think Ted Kennedy deserved respect. He truly was scum who did not deserve to live such a long life, IMO. With that said, I don't have a twitter account, and even if I did I would not have posted something like Breitbart did. I do remember posting a status update on fb with "Ted Kennedy dead at 7x" and then attached a Wikipedia link to the Chappaquiddick incident after Ted died. It's important that we don't whitewash politicians. How many liberals worshiped/worships the Kennedy clan?

Just for comparison: Clinton got some BJs from Monica, but he didn't murder her and get away with murder by exerting his influence as a politician.

As for Breitbart's death, I really don't care. A lot of people die everyday. What made him/them so special?

I feel bad for his family that he left behind. RIP. 43 is too young.

But, as far as a journalist, he was scum - a prime example of how often some journalists are deliberately deceptive. (I don't care if you're left or right; deceptive tactics are unethical and should get you fired - rather than promotions because deception increases viewership and revenue.) For example, he was the one who posted a portion of the Shirley Sherrod speech completely out of context (Dept of Ag) that got her fired.

QFT.

You keep trying to focus my answer into something irrelevant to my post. All I said was that there is no reason to give this guy respect upon his death when he didn't consider respect important for other peoples' deaths.

But, as far as a journalist, he was scum - a prime example of how often some journalists are deliberately deceptive. Sadly, these journalists are tolerated in our mainstream today. For example, he was the one who posted a portion of the Shirley Sherrod speech completely out of context (Dept of Ag) that got her fired.

A bad person died last night, he made the state of political discourse in America worse. He was an enraged, spite filled, execrable human being, at least professionally. I am not at all sorry that he will no longer be participating in our discourse.

I feel bad for his friends and family who probably knew much more of him and will miss him terribly. I'm sure he had many positive personal attributes that weren't reflected in his public persona. I don't know why after someone's death we can't reflect on all the horrible things he did in life. Not everyone is a saint, and not everyone deserves our respect.
