What's wrong with that? It's a website about PocketPC's. There's PocketPC Passion and PocketPC Thoughts.

I'm way more leary about TigerDirect than any large retailer like BB/CUSA, maybe it's just the size difference. I've heard a lot of really bad stuff about tigerdirect over in the HD forum (search the archived threads there for 'Tigerdirect' if you're bored :D)

hmm.. Ive bought from Tigerdirect on many occassions.. they even have a local store here now that ive been to twice in the past month. I havent had a problem yet *knock on wood*. infact they had my fuji s3000 $150 cheaper than BB/Futureshop/etc..

I think there is a very big difference in saying that TeK N Toys was charging credit cards before they should, and in what has actually happened, since they were not doing it, someone else was.

It makes no difference who's charging for them. Poor guys who bought from them. Has anyone checked their reseller ratings?

yeah I got on and posted this.

I used to own a computer store. now i own part of a few car dealerships. them claiming they didnt know that the CC place was doing it without there knowledge is wrong.

That moderator is a little puss who obviously is more worried about losing advertising dollars from this little n00b company rather than holding them to good strict business practices. BAN!

Apparently Anandtech moderators can moderate other moderators as well. ;)

"They offered me a battery which I said came with it and he snapped that it didn't. I asked if it was a retail box, and he said no, that would cost $137 more. I should have canceled at that time. When the package arrived they had charged $90 shipping for a 5lb package. They never did say what shipping would be."

wow doesnt get much lower than that

Being called childish names doesn't bother me much. They end up being more of a reflection on the person using them. What does bother me is being accused of defending a sleezy company or doing it to protect advertising dollars.

There are a number of things you should know before shooting off at the mouth in that manner. First I am only a moderator for the site. I have no financial stake in it, whatsoever. Secondly the company in question doesn't even advertise on the site....had you taken the time to research this before spewing off at the mouth you would know that, but it it easier to just be slanderous isn't it. Next, it doesn't matter "a hill of beans" to me if this company is successful or not. What does matter to me are the members we have at that site, and how they are informed. As a moderator I could have done the easy thing and closed that thread long before I did. I could have stayed out of the fight. I could have let people freely post whatever they liked....BUT I CHOSE NOT TOO! I chose to take the difficult route. I chose to take a great deal of time out of several of my work days to deal with this matter in an attempt to have our members receive a balanced view of the matter. I didn't have to do it but I did. I knew very early on it was going to go sour, yet I chose to take the stance I did. I did it in full knowledge that some fool somewhere would end up calling me something like a "little puss" for it. If it were to happen again tomorrow I would still take the same stance, because the worst thing that would happen to me is someone woulkd call me a little puss. The best thing that could happen is that people would come away with a proper view of the situation and make their own choice based on fact, not embellished nonsense. If they choose to believe that they should not do business with them fine, but at least let them have the opportunity to make an informed decision.

OK, I did read the whole thing. Wow! Very sad on the part of Tek-N-Toys. I can't believe that they were lying such as they did with promising order shipment dates that never happened. Also, their handling of those fees that were passed onto some customers and posting personal customer information. :(

Finally, this quote is very true from one of the posts:
IN THE END. Tekntoys you loose. I lost $37 you lost customers. This is your business a way of living be little more NICE
Kind of reminds me of the bumper sticker that I saw yesterday:

I'm fat and you're ugly ... but, I can diet.

If the people reading through all the crap aren't smart enough to sort the truth from the embellishment and make their own decision, I highly doubt they're going to do much better whether or not you censor the thread.

The guy from Tekntoys is a dumbass. He ought to realize, "Slander is spoken, in print it's libel." ;)

Main Entry: 1cen·sor
Pronunciation: 'sen(t)-s&r
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin, from censEre to give as one's opinion, assess; perhaps akin to Sanskrit samsati he praises
1 : one of two magistrates of early Rome acting as census takers, assessors, and inspectors of morals and conduct
2 : one who supervises conduct and morals: as a : an official who examines materials (as publications or films) for objectionable matter b : an official (as in time of war) who reads communications (as letters) and deletes material considered sensitive or harmful
3 : a hypothetical psychic agency that represses unacceptable notions before they reach consciousness

Not by #2, but #3 works, considering you locked the thread to prevent more posting on the subject.

WAH WAH WAH. Your heroic stance and victimization is breaking my heart, really, it is!

What you should realize is that your ability to neutrally comment upon the dealings of one of your advertisers is severely limited.

Yes, whatshisface went too far and started putting words in werb's mouth. Not that he really needed help looking stupid; he did a great job of that on his own: "BuddhaBravo********** when you post slander it is wise to get the facts straight. Hiding behind a user named doesn't always work."
rolleye.gif
Could he get more moronic than that? In fact he did - by posting the guy's entire name, address and likely phone number!

Plenty of instructive information came out of that little thread. The guy who runs that store has no business being in business, and you acted like his little crotch-sniffing lapdog. This lesson from the School of Common Sense brought to you by yllus.

Hey this is kinda fun!

Apparently you missed one of your own lessons, otherwise you would have had enough sense not to make that statement......I already told you the guy doesn't advertise on the site. Remember? I told you that if you had of done a little research first you would have know. ;)

I think everyone did come away with a proper view. That view being this:

T'n'T is run by criminally incompetant people.
They will take your money and give you the run around if you want a refund.
They post private information on the internet for the whole world to see.
You allowed this to happen on a forum you moderate.
You moderate a forum for a community of Pocket PC enthusiasts and yet chose to stick up for this company instead of the community.
You should not be a moderator simply because of your failure to put a stop to the posting of private information.

Did I miss anything?
