And this is why I love the Alama Drafthouse

Didn't they take over that old movie theater over on Mason road? That place was already a POS in the 90's so unless they redid all the theaters I'm not surprised.

Some of the ones around Austin are like that too, although some have full 'stadium' seating... or at least the best you can do with the seating format.

yeah, they did. i hear they're going to redo it once the theater at west oaks is closed (the whole mall is getting renovated or something)

 to them for kicking the stupid bitch out and then burning her ass with her own words. Awesome!!!

I can't wait to see that PSA on the big screen next time I catch a film there. Tree of Life opens at the South Lamar location this Friday...hmmm...

I guarantee many people supporting this theatre have texted in one at least once.

I go to the Drafthouse all the time... and sure I text while I'm there... but ONLY before the movie and while the lights are up.

There's a reason I like going there, you never have to worry about some other jackass ruining the experience.

Fully support this; my phone is shut off before the trailers and remains off the entire time. Either watch the movie or GTFO.

I remember hearing Tim on a podcast (I think /film) talking about a time some guy tried to fight him in the parking lot after he got kicked out. I guess people don't seem to understand when they are being disrespectful assholes.

I went to one in Houston a few years ago because it was showing "Robotech" (the original). It was ok, the screen/theather/crowd was small. It did have foods and drinks that waiter/waitress bring out to you.

LOL @ the female in the video. Someone talks like that in real life?

God bless Texas!

Love the drafthouse, wish Austin wasn't an hour away or I'd go more often...

I hate listening to people talk in the theater just as much as the next guy, but that theater just seems so... pretentious. It reminds me of the Amtrak QuietCar article that was posted here a few weeks ago.

Douche...both are fully justified, learn to follow the rules or GTFO! Period, end of sentence!

Then you can go to the normal cheaper theaters.

Drafthouse FTW.

I've always loved Alamo Drafthouse. Good beer, no kids and a movie? What's not to love? There was a small dust up when Texas first passed it's concealed handgun law, and Alamo Drafthouse posted legally binding signs prohibiting the licensed or unlicensed carrying of a handgun in their theaters... but we all wrote letters and in a couple months they got rid of the signs.

I haven't been to a movie in forever, will have to go there though. Always wanted to, life got in the way.

I try to watch movies exclusively at the Alamo Drafthouse.

No talking, no texting, no children, real food, waitresses, beer. What is there not to love?!

Pretty much this.

Sure, the screens are a bit smaller, but the experience is much nicer than a regular theater.

Plus, you gotta love the special events:
