That is fucking awesome. I wouldn't mind sending this theater all of my money, even though I may never see a show there in my life.

Outstanding!
If I lived anywhere near Austin, I would go the the Alamo Drafthouse specifically because of this policy, and would be certain to congratulate the management on their good sense.

I pretty much exclusively see movies at the Drafthouse, and their special shows are just icing on the cake (Dumb and Dumber quote along this Thursday!!). The only time I don't see a movie there is if it is a nice action flick and I want to catch it at the digital theater.

They've always had pretty good trailers about talking, texting, etc. but this is probably the best.

Although the Ann Richards one was good.

Ack, tonight is the Big Lebowski Quote Along!

"OVER THE LINE!"

Man, this is one of those movies that you don't just quote-along with when you're watching it; if you're at all like me you quote this movie every day, all through your regular life, and at times you forget that some of the things you say all the time are actually from the movie. Well from now on, that aggression will not stand, man, because at long last the Action Pack has put together THE BIG LEBOWSKI Quote-Along and we can't wait to see all of our Little Lebowski Urban Achievers out at the theater.

As always with a Quote-Along, all of your favorite lines will be subtitled karaoke-style so it will be easy to yell out, "Nobody fucks with the Jesus!" at exactly the right time (you're on your own for getting the accent, though). We'll have bowling pin beer available, a giant sized bowling game on stage before the film, and a bunch of props to help make the best moments of the film come to life (including a bag of Walter's dirty whites).

Let's go bowling! No really. Let's bowl. Anytime two hours before or after the movie, head next door to the vintage lanes of the Highball, where your Quote-Along ticket will grant you $3 White Russians and 50% off your first hour of bowling! Click HERE for more details.

So go pee on a stranger's rug, pull the marmot out of your bathtub, and come down to the Alamo and The Highball for our new weekly tradition. Mark it 8, Dude.

Like the other posters have said, I would absolutely support this theater.

I hate that shit during my movies.

You advertise up front that you have such a no-tolerance policy, I'm sure your overall business won't be impacted negatively, hell.. it'll probably attract more people who know they will most likely not have to put up with any issues.

Oh Drafthouse, how I miss thee and the old Weird Movie Wednesday and Mr. Sinus Theatre 3000!

I have one about 10 minutes from where I live. Been there a few times. Decent theater because seating is limited however screens are smaller and viewing angle is shallower, so the experience isn't on par with a normal theatre. But, hey at least they have a huge menu for food and waiters to bring it to you. Oh, and beer!

I've always wanted to go to an Alamo Drafthouse - I see their events on the blogs all the time. So jealous.

I have one 5 minutes from my house. We go there exclusively.

I like to show up early and watch the wacky ass stuff they show before the previews.

Didn't they take over that old movie theater over on Mason road? That place was already a POS in the 90's so unless they redid all the theaters I'm not surprised.

Some of the ones around Austin are like that too, although some have full 'stadium' seating... or at least the best you can do with the seating format.

I try to watch movies exclusively at the Alamo Drafthouse.

No talking, no texting, no children, real food, waitresses, beer. What is there not to love?!

Awesome. I wish the AMC over here would enforce this policy. "Not bothering anybody coz it was on silent" is bullshit. That bright fucking light is drawing my attention away from the screen and onto your shitty phone.

I've almost gotten in a fight at my local AMC because I told someone to stop talking.

Props to Alamo Drafthouse. Wish the AMC and Harkins Theaters in Phoenix had that policy, more than just the ads before the movie previews.

Love Alamo Drafthouse.

Had a blast last time there for their 'Tough Guy Cinema'. They handed everyone in the theatre a cap gun for the shooting scenes as well as live pyrotechnics.

We saw a Mr. Sinus 3000 presentation of Independence Day, at the Alamo down on 6th street in Austin. We got the balcony seats, and had way too much fun.
