Harkin move kept Agriprocessors plant afloat
A controversial Postville meatpacking plant might have been forced out of business if U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin hadn't stepped in four years ago to give it a multimillion-dollar boost with federal tax money.

The money, nearly $8 million, came from an environmental program from which Agriprocessors normally would have been disqualified. The grant and loan were used to build a sewage-treatment plant that serves only the meatpacker.

Hmm.... I wonder how much of this really goes on? IMO, these rules are in place for a reason and these politicians need to stop breaking(they call it bending) the rules for political purposes. The town will now likely suffer even more since they hold the inevitable bag for the treatment plant.

I agree that there are bad apples in each party...but I think you missed my point. Check out this GOP conspiracy thread GOP told cops to hold off on arrest until after election (more Sarah Palin in-laws trouble).

The problem, Doc, is that someone needs to code up a Harvey-bot for the right wing. Multi-thread it and you can have your very own P&N cheering section. You could call one thread Harry, one of them DougMcowen, one Lime Law, another could be inuitspy. That would balance this place and it's predictable responses right out!

Can you provide any links to threads in which people have stated anything even remotely close to 'Rep shit stinks to high heaven and Dem shit doesn't stink at all'? Just somewhere in the ballpark of that would be nice.

As far as I've seen people have mostly stated that whichever party is in power in Congress tends to have corruption problems, and that's pretty much true. Most of the comparisons made tend to be between the current Congress and the 109th, the last Republican majority. As the 109th Congress is frequently considered to be among the most corrupt in all of American history, generally the consensus has been 'this Congress has problems, but at least it's not the 109th.'... and that's an accurate statement as well.

EDIT: And if you look at the other thread, the majority of the posts are that Julius guy trolling and fighting with people, along with Fear No Evil crapping his pants. There really aren't that many posts attacking the Republicans in it, if anything this thread appears to be on its way to having significantly more attacks per page. What does that tell you?
