So if i let the wizard that comes up when you fist start it "search the My Music folder for mp3s...the songs will be added to you library...but will not be copied from their existing locations.." Will that rename my folders and songs?
Anyone?
Seems if you let it default to the \My Music folder specific to Itunes, all is well. If you have the songs in something other than \My Music, it will rename them and move them. FVCKING APPLE POS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, System Restore will not correct this. Damn, I hate Apple. :disgust:
Uncheck "Keep iTunes Folder Organized". If you check it will organize it the way it wants.

Yea, but as soon as it's done, you can't undo it!

Funny takes up less than 9mb on mine..............

Also, i'm a big fan of letting iTunes take care of my music. Get a new song, drage it in, iTunes organizes it like it should and i do less work

Maybe it matters on how many songs you have on it? I loaded 30GB worth..

I think iTunes has a very friendly and easy-to-navigate user interface. Almost everything is self-explanatory. And chalk up another one on the list of those whose file structure did not get messed up. The search feature is great, and incredibly fast, too. The music library organization functionality is even better than MusicMatch, and I like the ability to update the ID3 tags of a bunch of files at once (although MusicMatch can do this as well).

However, I still think that MoodLogic paired with Winamp is the ultimate music player/organizer application. MoodLogid required quite a bit of work with rating and classifying all my music, but now it works very well. I love being able to pick one song and create a mix from my files that matches the mood, tempo etc. of that song. Currently there is nothing out there quite like MoodLogic. MoodLogic can also organize your files according to its own folder and naming scheme but, if I remember correctly, it also allows you to undo all the changes.

Anyway, nice piece of software from Apple! I will keep playing with it. Too bad the iTunes store is not available over here yet.

Pretty good so far. I think you guys having problems with existing MP3 collections should look for the problem between your keyboard and your chair. Really, RTFM. I mean come on, it's made by Apple, it's not nuclear physics.

Well, I'm liking iTunes, but I figured out why the CPU usage just jumped so much.

If you go to effects and select the "Sound Check" option, iTunes will go through all the songs in your catalog and find the volume settings for each one in order to have a consistent volume level in playback. This might not be obvious if you're listening to the song, because the only place where iTunes tells you it's determining song volume is in the "LCD" type window. If you're playing music, the name of the song title will take the place of the the "Determining Song Volume" text. At least I now know. I wonder if that's why iTunes has seemed slow on some people's computers?

Also, if you click the little play button in the LCD screen, you can switch between display song title, and showing an animated equalizer.

would be nice if they would let you choose lossless when you buy. then you would be buying at max quality, and could compress/recompress at your leisure, but have a perfect source copy for safe keeping/use with quality equipment.

new version of musicbrainz just came out. It's got a new directory monitoring function that will automatically watch a directrory, and rename mislabled music based on fingerprint if it picks up a match over a settable level. I'm impressed.

It's just like the Mac version, and great. But it's slower than the Mac version, esp. with the visualizations. It almost looks like the visualizations are not 3D accelerated. The Mac version is OpenGL accelerated I think.

I guess you can't have everything with (effectively) a version 1.0 release. Maybe they'll add it later.

I'd be surprised if it was 3D accelerated via OpenGL on the PC. Can you imagine the headaches from people using sub-par graphics hardware trying to run visualizations, especially if OpenGL isn't installed by default?

OK then how about Direct3D 7 or something?

They could always have a software version like now, with the option for D3D. Or else just speed up the damn visualizations in software. SSE? Here's hoping for iTunes for Windows 5.0.

Looks alright.

I d/l it but I'm still going to use my winamp 2.76. I use CDex to rip my mp3's. I stick them to artist/album in my music directory. I make my own playlists and have done so for a few years. I like it this way.
