Anyone know how it gets BPM? Does it get it when/if it rips, or is it something that should be encoded into songs?

Any way to get iTunes to play ONE file at a time? What if I don't want it to go through the entire library/play list?

Yeah, I did too. But this piece of crap just re-organized 7000 songs the way it wanted to.

I don't understand it either. I did the manual option for library. Will System Restore return the machine to the way I had it? First impression of this is NOT GOOD!

Wow, its a cool player.

I have to admit that my first reaction after having installed it was disappointment, but now that I've seen how it organises files with proper ID3, I'm quite satisfied.

But the best feature, by far, is the volume leveler, that scans all your files and adjust the sound to avoid having one tune very low, and the next one very loud. This is a feature I had wanted for sooo long!

Kudos to Apple on this one! (the sound quality is also better than on WinAmp, and it can remember graphic equalizer settings for each song!! )

Seems if you let it default to the \My Music folder specific to Itunes, all is well. If you have the songs in something other than \My Music, it will rename them and move them. FVCKING APPLE POS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, System Restore will not correct this. Damn, I hate Apple. :disgust:

WTF, that sucks. I don't have enough space on my Windows partition to have all my mp3s moved into My Music.. I have my mp3s spanned across 2 harddrives [15GB on one drive, 30GB on another].. :[

You can change the location where music files are stored in preferences. I also added all my mp3s with no problem and it took only took about a minute with around 1100 songs.

Can you add two locations? Cause if so I'll try it.. but I don't want all my organizing to go to hell if it doesn't work with two locations.

Here is a little snippet from the help file on what happens when you add a song to the library "By default, iTunes places a pointer to the file in the iTunes Music folder in the iTunes folder in your My Music folder (in your My Documents folder); the original file is not moved. "

There is a box in preferences marked "copy files to itunes folder when adding to library". I think this is what's giving people problems.

Uncheck "Keep iTunes Folder Organized". If you check it will organize it the way it wants.

Everytime I hear pointers, I immediately think of C++. What a waste of brain cells :disgust: :p

yeah, you should aways check preferences.. but doens't itunes warn you the first time anyway? it did for me on my ibook... i just knew to check for it before i imported anything.

but i've found itunes to be a bit disappointing... it pulls my cpu when i minimize/maximise it/small mode... etc... i'm burning a dvd.. and i've done burning, transcoding, and encoding all at the same time (yeah, just trying to push it) with no problem... come itunes and burning has to STOP and wait about 5-7 seconds for itunes to do its thing.... very strange.

ok, at least i know now it's just dvddecrypter and itunes... can't use them at the same time.....

Yeah, it doesn't seem to be affecting the directories of the Ars guys either.

Either way, I'm gonna back up my 30 GB first on my XP box.

This is gonna be great. I no longer have to use iTunes on my Mac to sync my iPod. (I hate the MusicMatch software.)

Well there is ephpod wich is better than itunes or anything else for that matter.

Errr.. ephpod isn't even in the same league. Fortunately, it's not trying to be either.
