Q: Why is it that when an OP posts a link, the next three replies are "You suck at linking", even when the OP has a postcount in the 5 figures?

Someone answer this one for me please.

"You suck at linking" is used when they don't link correctly to whatever. By the time you get into the thread, it seems ok because it's been edited and fixed. So, the first three/four/five people have to endure crappy linking. And in that case, if they DO have a five figure postcount, that's even less of an excuse.

What, you think just because you had the bright idea to make a "neffing at work crew" then you are somehow above the law? No One is above the law! well, I suppose perhaps Anand and Andy the FAQ man may be .... well, and possibly Rossman and Jokersmoker, well, also NSF4 might be able to get away with stuff if he wanted to ... ohh and also ..... NM ... I get it, Fine, you are "above the law" just don't brag about it. When you have your meetings with all yer members, be sure to wear the plaid and khakis with the pencil in your ear, otherwise they may question the rule, and there could be a chaotic anarchy here. Ohh wait, there already is. Please do not read any of the stuff I have typed as it is a waste of time. I should have hit cancel, but alas, I didnt!

Created in the Anandtech forums, it was a member who posted useless crap to increase his post count. Hence, the term eventually branched out in to other forums and became a popular term among forum goers. Lifers are usually a harmless bunch, not as vicious as trolls. All they care about is the postcount..
