I am not necessarily volunteering to compile this into a clear and concise final form, but maybe I would, and in any case we really need one. We often come upon the same questions posted by people, with the same responses posted over and over. This FAQ needs to deal with commonly asked questions, to answers to which would help people for years, and possibly centuries to come. I'll start:
Q: I went to a restaurant, paid with my credit card, and when I checked my account at home noticed that the amount "charged" to my card was higher than what I authorized. Why?
A: They pre-approve a set amount, which is normally your total bill plus a tip percentage. Wait until the final amount is billed to your card before addressing this matter further.
Q: I have a credit card under my parents' account. Will it help/hurt/affect my credit score?
A: No, you have to be signer/co-signer to the account. A card with your name on it that's based upon somebody else's account has no bearing on your credit whatsoever.
EDIT: I do now volunteer to compile this in a basic html file, but I need somebody to volunteer hosting on a decently reliable server!
