Not true. Forumplanet's search is a thousand times worse. I agree that the search engine does suck here though.

I never have had issues with the ssearch engine.

Type in "search engine" in the search and see if you can find this thread. LOL.

hhahaha I just tried that and what do you know, can't find this thread! the search is seriously broken

Works for me?? I type in search engine, and it comes up first one.

try the advanced search

for some reason, "Title or body" doesn't work, but "Title and summary" works... the phrase is in the title

edit: looks like the body search is completely down or something

They should just disable body searching since it obviously doesn't work anyway.

Search is fine for me. VwVortex has the worst search engine I have ever seen. Takes at least four clicks and of course text to complete the submission. Even then when you want to go back to correct your text, you have to do the whole search over again.

Yes, I would say that's quite obviously broken.

Shame there seems to be no one to take care of stuff these days, I wonder what's gonna happen the day they need to restore a database backup or some such.

i have commented tenfold on this, but it still amazes me that a site as popular an Anandtech doesn't care if their search engine is borked. would it matter if a popular tech magazine did a piece on this site and then noted that it's useless to try and search for subject matter there? Search is really an important feature. why isn't it top priority?

Honestly I think Fusetalk is a really really crappy piece of software compared to other forum-hosting programs. No mouse-over preview, no custom avatars (though I guess that may be a choice by Anandtech), and a search engine that doesn't work right. I'm no expert on this stuff - is Fusetalk so much more robust than, say, vBulletin that it justifies all the cons?

Dammit, I just spend 20 minutes looking for one of my own threads and couldn't find it. Damn you, Fusetalk! Fix the search!

/angry rant

Not being able to find my own threads is really annoying.

EDIT: pfff, I just did a google search with every term I knew the post had, confined it to these forums, and it was the 3rd result. I really say we start using Google search...

As i said i OT earlier, using the search box at the top of the page (duh, that seems to be a pretty fscking obvious place to start), i search for 'dug777', and i don't get a single hit...never mind that i've been quoted maybe a few thousand times in the last ninety days...which doesn't even take into account the number of times 'dug777' has been typed...

That would seem to prove without a doubt that search is kaput. dead. deceased.

Some smart ass is going to come along & say 'well, you need to change the xy box to xtyx in your account wibble settings, which you can find at coordinates XY (if you are running 800x600, otherwise convert those using the following algorithm you need to write yourself), and then the search at the top of OT will work perfectly, it always has for me :smug:'...

Face it, basic search at the top of each forum page should work, it's the most basic thing a site like this should have...

The search at the top of the page is one of the few things that does work (except it sometimes does not bring up a desired result, for the most part it does), but it only searches thread titles and summaries. Unless someone named you in their title, you aren't going to get any hits.
