U know what is the probl man? I've said it before i might becoming boring or too tragic but i'll say it again.
I really think that the vast majority of the issues in these forums is CRAP for the level of knowledge of the most ppl.
It really pisses me off to see ppl that have background in what we love(PC'S) to stuck in such rediculus thingz such as "ug ug i have the greatest gpu i win u ha ha!!", when u can clearly see that Valve or ID or anybody else take advantage of these thingz and play with us.
So u wanna play HL2? Take now 9800pro play at 60fps and in 1-2-3 months when Nvidia or ATI or MATROX supply the new gpu's in the market B U Y it as.....
I know that tech advances but to pay so much money now and don not have an adequate in specs card ITS REALLY OUTRAGEOUS. I don't know, I think that we should all be dissapointed and openminded becauz thingz can only become WORSE!!!

Well, a bit OT, but I thought I'd might share that I am posting from my Red Hat 9 installation... don't know squat about linux (yet), but I did manage to get hardware 3d support working (yes, OpenGL), checked it out with Tux Racer, and then installed RTCW:Enemy Territory, which worked without a hitch. I think I am just about out of excuses to use windows.... except for so many good games are DirectX.
Perhaps when it is too much of a hassle for us to run unliscensed installations of windows we'll see more OpenGL games....
Anyways, I know that RH pretty much installs itself, but I am so excited to be able to do my normal computer operations on a new (to me) OS.

yeah, but now that i think about it. these 2 games are coming with the 2 newest best gaming engines ever. so i knew it would take alot of hardware to push out some frames. but i think its only fair that a person with a 2.2ghz (or equivalent amd fellas ) cpu and a top of the line gpu should get at least 100fps in 1024x768. i mean come on! when quake3 first came out, it was the best gaming engine out period. but it also came with the option to tune it down to nothing and get a lot more fps by doing so. but that's id's way of marketing at the people who do not have money, but know what to do in that case, tweak the config. i really hope half life comes with that feature, even though HAVING to tweak the config shouldnt even be a solution with the hardware we have JUST spent all our money on. what it seems like to me is, when it comes to gaming, the top gaming companies will always put something out to make the hardware makers match the leap of technology. the sad thing is, the gaming industry is jumping way too far into technology then the gpu makers, making 60fps in a regular resolution seem "amazing". think about it guys, the gpu makers have known for a long ass time that half life 2 and doom 3 were coming out. for at least 2 years. where the hell is the hardware to play the game. these marketing schemes these companies pull are so annoying and money hungry that it makes me want to stop pc gaming, my wallet cant keep up with these $300-$400 video cards that put out 60fps. its like, mean to us gamers. makes it no fun, HAVING to spend sooo much to get so little FPS!
