Anandtech's guide are important to me as I trust only this site. I am looking forward to the Anandtech guide on Xbox 360 where you explain every little technical detail of it. Is such a guide in the making ? If not please consider this as a request and many other readers might agree.

I would suggest looking for a console site. They would more likely know more about consoles than Anand, this is a PC tech site not a console tech site.

What's to know? Consoles are just PCs without the versatility or upgradability.

I remember Anandtech did a detailed article when the Xbox came out, so it wouldnt be too different. And Xbox 360 is still a computer inside. :D

You forgot to add that they have a larger variety of quality titles.

Which isn't limitation of the PC.

I asked you in another thread, Wingz, but you ignored the question, so I'll repeat it: If your town/city suddenly divided into 3-4 sections, requiring a different car to drive in each, and signed deals with automakers to ensure themselves a large cut of the profits, would you buy a second car? A third? Fourth? Keep in mind, in this scenario there's no tangible reason your main car can't drive in the new sections; you only can't because you wouldn't be allowed in if you tried. It's a serious question, please answer it.

Yes, since all PCs have 3 CPUs
Semantics. BTW, please answer the question I posed to Wingz. Actually I think I'm going to make a poll about it in OT, since console fanboys seem so reluctant to answer the question ;)

Your question is lacking. You should add that: but you are allowed to buy a truck for a higher price and drive it in all the sections of the city.
Car= console
Truck= PC

No, because many console games aren't available on the PC; ie. the "truck" can't go in these sections. Further, the ones that are are generally gimped, having been designed for obsolete hardware. Further yet, some must be exclusive to a certain console for a specified length of time (GTA games are PS2-only for 1 year) to ensure the console maker gets more money.

Here's the thread in OT.

Why not put blame on the developers for not taking advantage of pc hardware?? Its not the consoles fault its the devs who port it to pc.

As for that PS2 only for 1 year thing.. I think that applies to other consoles only and not the pc. If you notice its the xbox getting the latest GTA months later and the pc port is pretty much the xbox game put on a pc.

Also consoles CAN be upgraded in some form. The Sega Genesis was "upgraded" with the Sega CD and 32X (though both platforms weren't really successful), the Sega Saturn in japan had many games utililizing a 4mb ram cartidge to decrease loading for Capcom and SNK fighters to almost nothing.

I doubt most console gamers give a damn about upgrading though.

Thanks but thats not an Anandtech guide, in case you havent noticed I'm requesting for an Anandtech guide on Xbox 360.

An Anandtech "guide?" Are you looking for a price or buyers guide? :confused: Price has not been released, so i take it youre looking for a "next gen console buyers guide" then? Even though they dont have any next gen consoles? Im sure that would be a GREAT guide. :roll:

Maybe he wants an in-depth look at all the pc-esque technology inside the new console from a pc tech experts point of view?? I dunno.. I doubt Gamespot, team xbox..etc will bother to get into the big details.

Even if more time were spent on the port, it would never equal a game built for a PC from the ground up.

I understand that but what do you expect?? It would be nice if devs had 2 seperate teams, one for console and one for pc but thats not goint to happen. I mean..there are a few exceptions to the console port blues like Starbreeze's Riddick game which looks MUCH better than the xbox game, but I'm thinking its because they know how to deal with pc technology.

Good point, but the hardware is covered in depth there. I guess i may have forgotten that my hardware knowledge is sufficient to do something like that on my own (which i did). To be honest those teamxbox articles read like they were written by someone on the MS xbox dev team or something.

I don't expect anything. I don't have to be content with the situation either.

That is what I'm requesting; an in depth look at the Xbox 360. Not just an overview of the specs that were leaked and have been confirmed now. The folks over at Teamxbox think that the graphics of Xbox 360 will be available for PCs in 2007. I just want to believe Anandtech's word on it.

Yea, gotcha. Apologies. Thats why i added the comment about those articles reading like they came directly from MS. 2007? Pure speculation. The on-die 10MB w/48 pipes certainly sounds nice, but its really tough to predict where HW will go in an open articheture environment (meaning PCs). In fact, i question the reality of the HW MS is reporting. It could be that this unified shader architecture is a bad idea (developers move to openGL?). It could be that multithreaded gaming will not be a reality for a LONG time. It could be that developing for the multicell architecture in this form will be a hinderance and developers will shy away from it. Just speculation...
