Anand Retires!!

Going to miss him, but grateful the site can live on and happy that he's moving to new things. The travel schedule he and the staff had sounded brutal and ever worsening so hopefully his quality of life improves with the transition.

I don't think he can actually own AT and have AT still be credible. I don't think Apple would want him owning AT either. So I'm thinking his deal with Apple is lucrative enough that he doesn't feel insecure about not being a part of AT anymore.

But I do have to say this, I still visit toms for their annual benchmark charts. They are just about the only site that has benchmarks comparing cross generational products.

Yep, and I still like Tom's for their bang for the buck in different price range guides as well.

In 1999, I used to read Toms Hardware, Sharky Extreme and Anandtech. Anand outlived the other two by more than 13 years. I guess 15 years wasn't such a short career.

Does Sharky Extreme still exist under the same owner? I haven't visited that site and its forums in years. I remember its owner use to write for a magazine with Anand and and the owner of HardOCP. Not sure what happened to that publication as I never really got into it.

Kyle prints his own money on a color corrected laser printer, so it was an easy play. Plus, I heard they were lovers. Olds saw the same candid photos I did, but he's been a lot more circumspect about mentioning these things than I am ever since he found Jesus . . . in a gas station men's room.

His move to Apple explains a few things. I've always though his site has been biased towards Apple.

I have known Anand since 1998. I can call him a friend. He has been a great influence in our industry and I have always had a great deal of respect for him. Kudos to him for continuing his career into a "new" field. Not a lot of us get to have two careers in our lifetimes. He will bring significance to any project he is involved with.
