Who here likes Hayden Christensen in his role as Anakin Skywalker? If the answer is no, which I am hoping it is, who would have been a better Anakin?

He probably would have been fine, but none of the actors had the balls to bash George Lucas over the head with his script. Not even badassmofo Samuel L. Jackson could tell Lucas that he can't write dialog for shit.

I think the only actor to really do a good job throughout the whole 3 newer movies was Ewan McGregor.

IMO the younger or less "seasoned" actors weren't able to pull off the acting they needed to with all the CGI and green screens.

I'd vote for Matt Damon. I think he could pull off the whole "overcome by evil" bit without sounding like a little punk that needed a good ass-beating. He was young enough and looked young enough at the time to have done it, too.

Liam Neeson was nominated for best actor in Schindler's List. Even he couldn't make that horrible drivel Lucas calls a dialogue sound remotely believable. You think anyone could do better with what they were given to work with?

With the PT - all of the actors came off poorly.............

Neeson's performance in Batman Begins was so fucking awesome I had to double check and make sure it was Liam Neeson.

After many many watchings, and initially a bitter hatred of the Star Wars prequels, I have come at least to the realization that all is as it should be, including Hayden Christensen. Strange, I know... but that Darth Vader was a bitchy ungrateful punk of a teenager only makes perfect sense.

Heh. I know. Lucas' dialog is infamously bad.

Did Lucas write the script for the original 3? If so, the actors were able to pull that off ok. And it isn't like they were great actors either.
