Well, I just finished reading this up and visiting those links; after changing my pants, and replacing my tube sock, I must say I was amazed :D

Thus, if you live in Brooklyn, you'll see me this weekend in a club on Smith and Baltic St. popping and locking and drinking the night away :D

And THAT'S why hip-hop/rap music rules.

Topside for more opinions...

First off, I am not a rap fan.... I can't stand it, but I have learned a lot through this thread! This is the first time in my life that I have seen rap discussed in a sensible manner. I think I became so jaded towards rap because of what most people have said here. The crappy pop rap crap stuff on MTV which shows rappers flashin' their dough and spanking their honeys :). I don't know anyone who is into this "alternative rap?" that you guys have mentioned.

So I think the thread deserves a bump for this mature discussion on rap without anyone interjecting "rap sucks!" :)

Hehe.. Quite a rush! Too bad I live in a city where I see more cows than I see people like you.

Here's an old saying that we can all relate to:

Work like you don't need the money
Love like you've never been hurt before
And Dance like no one is watching.

I use to love rap quite a few years ago, but got tired of it because of the mainstream rap culture. I don't know anything about the underground, but I'll say this about the mainstream, it sucks. Rap imo is supposed to be an african american culture music style like jazz is, and more generally a music for the opressed. I like jazz because I can feel it, which was the purpose of it, but the rap(mainstream) I hear is just terrible because its so fake. I don't feel anything when I listen to rap except a bunch of people trying to make a ton of money. Another thing that turned me away was the rappers, you have all these "gantsas" walking around being so fake with gold chains, pimped out cars, and their hoes. Also the people who listen to it omg... please STOP blasting your music from your car everyone does not need to hear it. Last thing I don't like is how the people in the rap culture use so much slang, I don't mind some slang, but these rappers and listeners take it to another level... Some times when they talk I can't understand what they are saying its as if they are speaking another language. Oh ya not being racist or anything, but I really find it funny when I see a caucasian walking around in "gangsta" garb and using all the slang terms, it makes me laugh so much when I see it, don't know why but it does. K rant done. I'm going to check out some of those artists you guys mentioned in this thread and hopefully I wont feel the same way about rap as I have been after I listen to them.
